There was a time long past when I used to take our (now deceased) female
Juelchen to the vet wrapped in a towel.

That worked fairly well until the day I went in and the waiting room was
_packed_ with large dogs, most of them barking up a storm. Juelchen went
absolutely crazy - it was the first and only time I've ever been bitten by a
cat - and I literally _ran_ out of the office with her. Called back later for a
private appointment, and that went well.

The next day I bought a wicker cat carrier and have used it ever since. Some of
our cats run when they see the thing, but Wendy and Peter actually like to play
in it when I leave it out and open. That's a bit of luck.

Oh, by the way... have you ever had to give your cats any pills? That can be an
adventure, too. Luckily, it's no problem with Wendy and Peter, as they _love_
"cat sticks" (what some people call "meat sticks"), and I can just press the
pill (sometimes in halves or quarters) into the soft stick - they'll eat
everything and beg for more.

It's also no problem with Effie, our old (15-16) male, who has a serious and
chronic mouth disease that cost him all but two teeth (both canines are gone)
and heart trouble as well (leading to fluid in the lungs). I have to give him a
pill for the heart problem twice a day, and a liquid medicine for his mouth in
the morning. He doesn't like that and runs if the outside door is open - but
once I have him, he takes his medicine like a man. Since he has no teeth,
giving him the pill is no problem.

Otherwise I've only previously had one single cat who would take pills without
a huge and usually bloddy fight. Mostly it's quite a job.
