In Green Bay, the people own the football team.  In Louisiana,
the people own the football stadium (as well as the basketball arena).
However, politicians have found ways to game the system, finding ways
to siphon taxpayer dollars to their friends.  For example, Tom Benson
is the owner of the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans.
He contributed heavily to Piyush "Bobby" Jindal's campaign for
governor, and was handsomely rewarded for his contribution.

Does that mean that politicians are whores?  They sell themselves
to the highest bidder?  Buying influence is not the same as buying
votes?  Pay a politician enough money and that politician will
listen to what you have to say.  In order to keep things legal,
the politician will never admit being a sellout.  But we all
know that money talks, people listen.

Of course!  The NFL Commissioner promised the team owners a Super Bowl
for those cities that built a new stadium!  That's how business works!

In order to make money you have to spend money.  Preferably other
people's money.  You know that.  I know that.  Everybody else knows
that.  So what the heck are you complaining about?

It is not about what somebody else makes.  It is about what you
(the owner) makes.  It's your team, not the people's team, not the
city's team, not anybody else's team.  If you can get somebody else
to foot the bill for whatever expenses that may be incurred, so much
the better for you!

You know the old saying - Friendship is friendship, but business
is business!  Business is about making a profit, not a loss.
