Hi Hap,

-> hn> finding jeans in a 29 inseam is nie on to impossible with a waist
-> hn> larger than 32! And when you get a waist above 42 it's more unlikely

-> OK, I understand.

 hn> life just keeps getting tougher (grin)

But you wouldn't want to go the opposite way & shirnk down to nothing
would you?

-> hn> Native Korean, who married a GI, moved to America and consequently
-> hn> abandoned by the GI husband and left to raise 3 kids on her own.
 hn> Once
-> hn> she got a good job and benefits and was doing quite well for herself
-> hn> a bunch of friends for counsel....so it worked out better for her and
->  hn> prison...for something unrelated...but it's where he should have been

-> It sounds like she is much better off now without him. I've seem both
-> sides of it in GI marriages--either she wants a free ticket to America
-> and then leaves him or he wants a wife in Korea but once they get to the
-> States after his tour is over, she's a liability. OTOH, I've seen a lot
-> of them work out well.

 hn> same here, a sad commentary on our society that people are just as
 hn> easliy discarded as objects.

Very much so; serial monogamy is not the intention of being married for
life means. OTOH, Steve & I kid that we took each other for better or
worse and sometimes one of us is worse than the other one took us for.
He spoils me tho. (G)

-> Truce! Before we get into a heavy political discussion, let's call it
-> off.
 hn> (chuckle) that works for me!

Great, it's finished.

-> hn> they come to some quick decisions and get you all shipshape before
 hn> you
->  hn> leave the Islands!
 hn> ->
-> I'm hoping so too; I think the original break was in early October but
-> not discovered until the end of November. I spent about an hour on
-> hold today, only to find out the scheduler wasn't there. Meanwhile, one
-> of my friends said that I could use it for "Steve, will you please cook
-> supper tonight?" since I'm not supposed to be on my feet too much. I

 hn> Seems to me that you've been bounced around long enough, it's time to
 hn> put your foot down (figuratively!!) and demand some response and a
 hn> reliable diagnosis that can get you on the track to being whole again!
 hn> To make the run into Tripler and spend an hour of your time waiting
 hn> just to find out it was all for naught....well it just isn't right!

I didn't have to make the trip in to Tripler for that; it was on the
phone. Spent an hour on hold Monday but did (finally) get the
appointment scheduled for the 15th. Part of the problem is, it's a
stress fracture in a bad area and my bones aren't in the greatest shape.
Back in 1993 I got the diagnosis of osteopenia--not full blown
osteoporosis but if I don't watch out, it could go that way easily. So
far I've been doing OK but part of that is taking a calcium suppliment
plus Fosamax (for almost 10 years now), chugging lots of soy milk which
is higher in calcium than regular and when I can, getting a bit of
weight bearing exercise--not possible with the foot the way it is right
now.

Last night I did supper in 2 stages. While some turkey Italian sausages
were steaming, I cut up some garlic, onion and green pepper. Shoved it
all in the fridge until Steve called about an hour later, then sauteed
the veggies & browned the sausage. With a slice of whole wheat bread,
it made a good supper; had a small thing (6oz) of strawberry yogurt
later for a bit more calcium. Tonight will be a commissary run; we
usually go out for a quick supper beforehand.

---
Catch you later,
Ruth
