========================================================================
Hey Ruth!
->
-> hn> Did I ever tell you I know 6 other Ruth's besides you and CT Ruth?
->
-> No, you never did (before now). It's a good name. I have known quite a
-> few others over the years.
->

Not such a common name anymore! I guess people
aren't going to that "well" anymore (grin)

-> hn> I even have and Aunt who's name is Ruth! (my grandfather was a
->
-> I used to have one; she passed away some years ago. She was my dad's
-> only sister. One of f my cousins has it for a middle name, as does
-> another cousin's daughter.
->
-> hn> methodist minister) Almost gave that as a middle name to Amanda.
(but
-> hn> we went with JOY instead)
->
-> We went with Ruth for Deborah--liked the sound of it. Rachel's middle
-> name is Elisabeth (yes, spelled with an s instead of a z). BTW, Deborah
-> was here from yesterday (about noon) until about an hour ago. Took her
-> to a local bbq place yesterday but fed her cookies, fudge and home made
-> poultry soup today.
->

My maternal Grandmother's name was Amanda, so there are
LOTS of Amanda's on that side of my family! I have a cousin
who had two kids, daughter Amanda, and son Robert. They grew up
Amanda married a nice guy...named Robert...Son Robert grew up and
married a sweetie....named..........you guessed it! AMANDA!

->
-> -> HN> lived right outside one of the housing areas
-> -> HN> and were in and out of it as much as if we
-> -> HN> lived there. Grin, there were so many holes in
-> -> HN> the fence surrounding base housing we kids
-> -> HN> never even considered "inside" and "outside"!
->
-> -> Kids usually don't pay attention to differences like that. OTOH, a
-> -> military kid going to school in a non military area can stand out like
-> -> an LED light. (G) The other kids are usually a pretty tight knit group
-> -> and the military kid may have problems fitting in.
->
-> hn> Have had that experience as both a kid and adult.
-> hn> It's nice at those times to have a good self image and
->  hn> be somewhat independent.
->
-> Very much so! I would have had a hard time fitting in as a younger kid;
-> got a lot more self confident and surer of myself as I got into high
-> school and then away to college. But, every so often Steve will have to
-> tell me "yes, you CAN do that" if I'm hesitant. Gotten into a number of
-> big projects that way. (G)
->

We travelled so much I had to become adept at "fitting in"
quickly. Not sure about the self confidence as much as
it was a survival instinct (grin)!

->
-> ->  HN> Spending a day in a class with 26 2nd graders who are
-> -> HN> wound up for Christmas would make anyone tired!
->
-> -> That's the trouble with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas so close.
-> -> The kids are on a sugar high from the end of October pretty much thru
-> -> the end of the year. Rachel doesn't have as many kids in her 2nd grade
-> -> class (advantage of a private school) but she says they're all wired
->
-> hn> Perpetual state for kids this time of year! (grin)
->
-> Yes but they have a chance to work some of it off over the Christmas
-> break. Then they wean off the sugar until Valentine's day (when kids
-> don't get that much candy anyway) and that usually is well over before
-> Easter hits.
->
-> -> HN> same way!) and the harder it is to get
-> -> HN> them to concentrate on the academic work they
-> ->  HN> need to be doing!
->
-> -> Very much so! Especially if there are state or federal tests that have
-> -> to be taken to meet certain standards. Enough class time is spent
-> -> teaching to the test now that kids don't get some of the extra
-> -> activities we had to burn off some of the energy. We had a recess
->
-> hn> Anne's on break now, and is enjoying it immensely!
-> hn> She's gonna sleep in for a few days!
->
-> And you'll be nice & let her. This is my "calm before the storm"; we
-> leave later this week for Nevada & Arizona.
->
Have a great trip and make lots of good
memories! oh, and TAKE PICTURES!! (grin)

-> -> HN> stores with LOTS of options, just taking
-> -> HN> time to study them and make decisions.
->
-> -> The advantage of living in a large population area. Been back to the
-> -> Hawaiian place recently?
->
-> hn> Went there yesterday, it's just upstairs from my
->  hn> studio/workspace so it's nice and convenient!
-> hn> had Saimin and huli huli chicken! it was ONO!
->
-> Sounds good to me. Just don't indulge so often that you get to looking
-> the size of some of the folks I saw over there.
->
Slowly working in the opposite direction!
chat with you soon
