We're being governed by paper-mache patriots; brightly painted red, 
white and blue, but hollow to the core. Both parties have mastered the 
cynical arts of media manipulation and fund raising. They've learned the 
lessons of Watergate and burn the tapes. They have learned to divide the 
nation for their own gain. They have demonstrated the willingness to 
exploit any tragedy for personal advantage. The contempt they have for 
the American people is without parallel.

This is painful to say, and I'm sure for many of you, painful to read. 
But it's impossible to heal the country until we're willing to 
acknowledge the truth no matter how painful. We have to wean ourselves 
off sugar coated partisan lies.

I note that Floyd Landis is the leading American - one minute, one 
second behind Sergei Honchar the first Ukrainian to wear the yellow 
jersey. Even if Sergei rides for the American T-Mobile team.

If the Asian Foods market gets up and running again I will have a 
source. I wondered, after the tornadoes, seeing stories of batteries 
(weighing up to 20 kilos) being found a mile or more from the Mr. 
Battery location next door to the Asian Foods place. Durians do not 
weight anywhere near that much - and ought to be at least as aerodynamic 
as a car battery. With the spiky rinds a durian propelled by tornadic 
winds could do severe damage to whatever it hit.

      Title: Pumpkin Olady
 Categories: Russian, Squash, Breads
      Yield: 4 servings
 
    500 g  Flour
    500 g  Pumpkin (grated)
      2 lg Eggs
      1 tb Sugar
      1 ts Salt
    1/2 ts Baking powder
      2 tb Oil

  In a large bowl, combine grated pumpkin, eggs, salt, sugar, flour with
  baking powder. Mix thoroughly the batter. Bake olady on a preheated
  pan until light golden.
