Internal combustion is an inherently inefficient process WRT to getting 
the most thermal efficiency (work) from a volume of fuel.

The improvements of efficiency in Diesel engines has been dramatic over 
the past 25 or so years. The main reason for the high compression ratios 
of Diesel cycle engines is the use of the heat of compression to ignite 
the fuel.

The BTU content per unit volume increases as the specific gravity 
increases. The BTU content of a unit volume (gallon or liter) of diesel 
fuel is higher than that of gasoline, and the BTU content of No. 2-D 
diesel fuel is generally higher than that of No.1-D diesel fuel. The BTU 
content of No. 2-D diesel fuel is typically about 130,000 BTU/Gal.

Only 6,000 BTU higher than regular gaz-o-lina.

      Title: Big Ruby Duke's Peachadillies
 Categories: Fruit, Pastry
      Yield: 36 servings
 
      1 pk Fluffy white frosting mix
      1 c  Flour
    1/3 c  Oil
      1 c  Peach preserves
    1/4 ts Cinnamon
      1 c  Almonds; chopped fine
 
  Prepare frosting mix as directed on the package. To half of
  the frosting mix, add flour and oil. Pat into bottom of a
  greased 13' X 9" pan. Bake at 350oF for 10 minutes. Spread
  with preserves. Fold cinnamon and almonds into the remaining
  frosting and spread over preserves. Bake 25 to 30 minutes
  longer or until topping is golden brown. Cool a bit. Cut
  into bars.
