    I don't remember having been moderated either. What one hears depends on
from what direction one is listening. I try to listen from both directions
as much as possible. I often times may not like what I hear from one side or
the other but at least I get more of a balanced view of things.

    My view of things in this case is that some say that Björn posts
rules/guidelines in this echo and has on occasion over a number of years sent
'Moderation' netmails to several people. That is pretty much the extent of
Björn's moderating actions as I understand it. Indeed netmail is a vital tool
in the moderating of an echo. My point was that if it has and/or is being used.
It doesn't seem to be at all effective. Secondly, most of the moderator
netmailing that has been mentioned to me has been done over past years. Given
the current number on the chaos meter from the Fidonews echo I wouldn't be
suprized to see Björn sending out dayly moderation netmails. Another factor IMO
is that few people seem to have little if any respect for Björn as the
moderator here. That fact alone makes it that much harder for him to
succuessfully moderate the Fidonews echo. Respect goes along way toward making
the moderating job easier and can save one from having to write many netamils.
A number of his statements in the echo as an echo participant have shown people
that he appears to consider himself above his own echo guidelines. Which only
further lessens his credibility as a moderator. There are several
responsibilities that a moderator should IMHO take on. One of which is a degree
of visibility in the echo as moderator to show participants that there is
someone there that cares about the echo. Another responsibility IMO is the
regular updating of the Elist for the Fidonews echo. Björn isn't doing either.

    I am sure that a number of people are going to accuse me of attacking
Björn. To them I would say that if I am attacking anything it is Björn's
performance as moderator and not Björn as a person.

     Drastically reduced that's for sure. I remember the good ole days
of moderating when a cattle prod was a moderating tool. <g>
