No....but others might, since there is no compelling reason to warn off
US writers (g).

It may be the way you ask the question, or even the different use of English.
I have a business assocaiate in Europe...many times his questions seem
curt....but I realize that there is no harm or insult intended...he just uses
English differently than I do.

 BF> Editor", a column I created a year ago <hint to everyone! :) >?

Guest Editorials are quite common here....the distinction is that while the
piece is not written by the editor, it is opinion, and thus is treated as
an "editorial" article.

I could write a "Letter to the Editor" and describe how the Echolist processes
updates. I could also submit that as an article...but if I send you something
where I postulated that Fidonet is dead and that we are all wasting our time
participating in the network, that might be considered an editorial(opinion)
piece.

TL> It could also be that the submitter of the article simply made an error
TL> in using the word editorial.

BF> My guess is that you are absolutely correct, and that this was
BF> indeed what David tried to point out, even if I can admit that he
BF> could have used a better wording.

I suspect that it's not really an "error"...simply use of a language term in a
manner that may not be familiar to all. Perhaps what appears to be Drummond
insults is simply how David uses the langauge.

Of course if one wanted to communicate efficiently, one would not add noise to
the channel by stating things in such a way that they might be considered
insulting.

TL> I trust I have defused your comment about US-bashing.

BF> Well, as far as I am concerned, I didn't see anything along that
BF> line in your comment, so I surely must be satisfied for the time
 BF> being. :)

Oh good....

cya,
thom
