Americans have several sets of rules (federal, state, local).
Even within each set, there are several sets of rules.  As an
American ex-pat you are fully aware of that.  But Michiel is
not an American or an American ex-pat.  So please allow him
some flack.

Expressing one's own opinion is not anti-American.  Even if you
totally disagree with that opinion.  In fact, as an American ex-pat,
you should be defending Michiel's right to express his own opinion,
not criticize his right to do so.  Otherwise, you make yourself
out to be not only anti-American, but also un-American.  The same
applies to  your comments about Björn, as he has the same right
to express his own opinions as does Michiel and everybody else.

Behind every message is a real person who wrote that message.  As such,
Fidonet *IS* real life.  Although most folks understand cyberspace for
what it is, there are some folks who take cyberspace seriously.  And in
very rare cases, suicides have happened.

And for some folks, writing insults directed to a selected few has
become an obsession.  Psychiatrists would call such a disorder OCD -
Obsessive Compulstive Disorder.
