 TR> It went from a `tropical depression' to a `hurricane' in a short period
TR> of time. On October 19th, it was a `tropical storm'. On October 24th it
 TR> was upgraded to a `hurricane'.

TR> When it hit the Atlantic City area on October 29th, it was a
TR> *hurricane*, with winds of 80mph or so!

TR> By the time it hit Atlantic City it was a *hurricane*!

 TR> From LIVESCIENCE:

TR> Hurricane Sandy: Facts & Data | LiveScience

TR> Hurricane Sandy, a late-season post-tropical cyclone, swept through the
TR> Caribbean and up the East Coast of the United States in late October
TR> 2012. The storm left dozens dead, thousands homeless and millions
TR> without power. Total damage is expected to be in the billions of
 TR> dollars.

 TR> Death toll

TR> The death toll from Sandy as of Nov. 1 was at least 149. The confirmed
TR> deaths include 42 in New York; 12 in New Jersey; nine in Maryland; six
TR> in Pennsylvania; five in West Virginia; four in Connecticut; two in
TR> Virginia; and one in North Carolina. One person died in Canada, and at
TR> least 67 people were killed in the Caribbean, including 54 in Haiti.

 TR> Origin of storm

TR> Sandy began as a tropical wave in the Caribbean on Oct. 19. It quickly
TR> developed, becoming a tropical depression and then a tropical storm in
TR> just six hours. Tropical Storm Sandy was the 18th named storm of the
TR> 2012 Atlantic hurricane season. It was upgraded to a hurricane on Oct.
TR> 24 when its maximum sustained winds reached 74 mph (119 kph).

TR> Sandy tore through the Caribbean, making landfall at Jamaica on Oct.
TR> 24. After leaving that island, the storm gained strength over open
TR> water and became a Category 2. The storm hit Cuba early Oct. 25, then
 TR> weakened to a Category 1.

TR> On Oct. 26, it swept across the Bahamas. Sandy briefly weakened to a
TR> tropical storm on Oct. 27, then gained strength again to become a
TR> Category 1 hurricane before turning north toward the U.S. coast.

 TR> Sandy slams Jersey shore

TR> Hurricane Sandy made landfall in the United States about 8 p.m. EDT
TR> Oct. 29, striking near Atlantic City, N.J., with winds of 80 mph. A
TR> full moon made high tides 20 percent higher than normal and amplified
TR> Sandy's storm surge. Streets were flooded, trees and power lines
TR> knocked down and the city's famed boardwalk was ripped apart. Along the
TR> Jersey shore, people were left stranded in their homes and waited for
TR> rescue teams in boats to rescue them. More than 80 homes were destroyed
TR> in one fire in Queens. Several other fires were started throughout the
 TR> New York metro area.

TR> Seawater surged over Lower Manhattan's seawalls and highways and into
TR> low- lying streets. The water inundated tunnels, subway stations and
TR> the electrical system that powers Wall Street and sent hospital
TR> patients and tourists scrambling for safety. Skyscrapers swayed and
TR> creaked in winds that partially toppled a crane 74 stories above
TR> Midtown. A large tanker ship ran aground on the city's Staten Island.

TR> As of Nov. 1, about 4.7 million people in 15 states were without
TR> electricity, down from nearly 8.5 million a day earlier. Subway tunnels
TR> in Lower Manhattan remained flooded, but some lines had resumed
TR> service. Airlines, which had canceled more than 15,000 flights around
TR> the world, were returning to normal schedules. Most gas stations in New
TR> York City and New Jersey were closed because of power shortages and
TR> depleted fuel supplies. Long lines formed at gas stations that were
 TR> expected to open.

TR> Sandy will end up causing about $20 billion in property damage and $10
TR> billion to $30 billion more in lost business, making it one of the
TR> costliest natural disasters on record in the United States, according
TR> to IHS Global Insight, a forecasting firm. The New York City mayor's
TR> office in late November estimated total losses to the city to be $19
TR> billion and asked the federal government for $9.8 billion in aid for
TR> costs not covered by insurance or FEMA.

TR> By Nov. 1, Sandy had dissipated. The National Weather Service reported
TR> that "multiple remnants" were circulating across the lower Great Lakes
TR> region and moving into Canada. Some areas were getting residual rain
TR> and snow showers. Tides were back down to less than a foot above
 TR> normal.

 TR> Frankenstorm

TR> Sandy, the 10th hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, earned
TR> the nickname "Frankenstorm," as well as other descriptive appellations,
TR> such as "Blizzacane" and "Snor-eastercane."

Blah blah blah.... why don't you go directly to the source (NOAA) instead of
some oddball weather station. Here is the final report.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/data/tcr/AL182012_Sandy.pdf

(Read the end of page 7)

Now I'm sure you're going to dig up some obscure "stuff" somewhere, probably
Briebart, to discredit the NOAA.... have at it.

BTW, I'm still waiting for the Briebart report showing hydrocarbons aren't
effecting the stratospheric ozone layer.

Enjoy...
