Which madman was worse - Hitler or Stalin?  At the time,
FDR viewed Hitler as being the lesser of two evils.  But
once that evil had been done away with, what about the
other evil?  FDR considered Stalin a personal friend,
given documented historical accounts of Yalta.  But FDR
died before the war was over, with Truman taking his
place as US president.  And Truman dealt with Stalin in
a much different manner than FDR.

What a silly conspiracy theory that is.  Truman realized it was
time to bring our troops home.  They had done more than enough
fighting.  In both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters.  Besides,
Bess never would have forgiven him.  And neither would any of the
other American housewives, many of whom had been waiting years
for the return of their loved ones.  I mean really.  There were
babies to be born.  Lots of babies.  Lots and lots of babies.

Then why did Soviet troops remain in Poland long after WWII
had been over?  And what about other European countries that
Soviet troops refused to leave for decades afterwards?  US
troops remained in Japan for five years after WWII, but it
took the Soviets ten years to leave Austria?  And even then,
Soviet troops remained in Germany, with Stalin carving up
the country into two separate parts so as he could keep
some of it for himself.

US President John F. Kennedy traveled to Berlin and declared -
"I am a jelly doughnut!" and the crowd roared its approval.

US President Ronald Reagan traveled to Berlin and declared -
"Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" and the crowd scratched
their heads not understanding a word he said.

But Chuck Mangione knew what to do.  Stepping onto an outdoor
stage in Poland, he took out his horn and began playing "Children
of Sanchez" and started a revolution.

And the rest is history.  The Soviets left Poland, the wall
came tumbling down, and a black man was elected president of
the United States.

Meanwhile, Japan and Russia technically remain in a state of
war, the two sides being at loggerheads over the Kiril Islands.
You see, Russia wants to keep that part of Japan for itself, as
it had once wanted to keep part of Germany and half of Europe.

Yeah, right.  Tell that to the Poles.  And the Hungarians.
And the Czechs.  And all the other peoples who suffered under
Soviet domination.
