  Funny thing about companys and the 10-codes...some were well
known and the others were company codes I guess in case there
were those listening in.   TV cable trucks carry some nice
equipment, and radio communications in plain english seems

  The DOC here in Canada for GRS <CB> issued the very same handbook
for CB'ers here, as they gave those of us, innvolved in our
Civil Defence system  <EMO>.    They didn't want 10 codes, and no
Q codes, even if the Q code in CW could pass the meaning faster.

   I have always stuck to Plain English, in any service.  No confusion
and I think everyone understands what you are saying.

   Really Roy!    I have only heard a few times, via the repeaters here
the 10 codes and the cb jargon.    Funny to hear on the cb radio a known
ch 19 operator, switch from his CB character into his Amateur Identity,
I feel like I am listening to batman and robin.."live".

  Has that ever changed.  They get the idea via the movies and TV
that this is the way it has to be operated.

  I think a lot of people got into industry that way Bob.

  Me too Roy.  I was doing a cable & radio talk show, when I met someone
telling me about the ham radio licence, and a tech guy at the station
got me going.  The biggest surprise was the test.  I felt really insulted.
 
 bk>   And a good friend, Craig, N8CA, who works in a cell phone
 bk>  system, told me ham radio was the best reference he ever had for
 bk>  a job in electronics.

   Hams are usually problem solvers, and are quick to jump on a problem
to fix it, and have a better insight into why there is a problem.
Just a wealth of knowledge, that no company in it's right mind would
turndown.  The downside of this is blind loyality of a ham to the
company, and I have seen my friend as a tech drop his holidays because
the company knows they can snag him.

   That is too too bad.    Our schools up here used to add the ham
knowledge as a plus.

   Before I leave.....Bob...I hear you lived near Toledo,Ohio....
is that true?   If so, then we could have met on my many trips to
see family in Indiana.    I wonder if you can reach the Buffalo NY
repeaters?   Or if you have HF for a morning blab on 80meters
via the OMTARS net 3755 ... I will sign in some morning, and leave
my call with the controller, should you get there...

Anyhow... great chat .... still don't use 10codes or qcodes but
plain english.... ttfn
