AMSAT BOD member Bill Ress, N6GHZ, has informed the President of AMSAT and
the AMSAT Board of Directors of his resignation as a Board Member effective
September 20, 2010. In his notification, Bill noted, "My business demands,
currently and into the foreseeable future, are leaving me with very little
extra time (and energy) to properly serve as a member of the AMSAT Board."
In his notification, Bill observed that he is seeing a 'spike' in his
business that requires his full attention.

AMSAT President Barry Baines, WD4ASW received Bill's resignation with
regret, noting Bill's significant contributions to AMSAT as a Board Member.
Barry observed, "As a member of the Board of Directors over the past two
years, Bill pushed AMSAT to establish realistic and achievable goals for
maintaining amateur radio in space. As chairman of the Engineering Task
Force, Bill led a concerted effort to develop a space strategy that was
embraced by the AMSAT Board of Directors and resulted in the decision to
proceed with Project Fox Further, Bill helped to develop the strategy that
AMSAT followed in dealing with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms
Regulations)-related issues. We wish Bill success in his business
endeavors."

In accordance with Article II, Section 7E of the AMSAT Bylaws, Tony
Monteiro, AA2TX as First Alternate will immediately assume the position of
Director until the next Board election in 2011. Tony also serves as
AMSAT's Vice President-Engineering.

NASA selected AubieSat-1, a small satellite built =

by Auburn University students,
to be launched on board a NASA rocket.

=93We are now much closer to putting Auburn University on the map of student
designed and built satellites,=94 says Professor J-M Wersinger, Physics. =
=93We are
proud and honored to have been selected by NASA.=94

AubieSat-1 is participating in the CubeSat Launch Initiative. The pilot pro=
ject
seeks to demonstrate viable launch opportunities for CubeSat payloads during
2011 and 2012 as auxiliary payloads on planned NASA missions, as explained =
by
Jason C. Crusan, chief technologist for Space Operations at NASA.

Long-time AMSAT member John Klingelhoeffer, WB4LNM, is a technical advisor =
to
the Auburn satellite program. John, who retired from the satellite operator
Intelsat, has been assisting the students with system and RF design topics =
for
several years.

AubieSat-1 is an aluminum-alloy cube with 4-inch sides weighing about 2.2
pounds. It is custom built by Auburn University students The data collected=
 by
the satellite will be transmitted to the ground station in the Physics
Department for analysis. The science mission is to measure gamma rays produ=
ced
by high-altitude thunderstorms. In fall 2010 and =

spring 2011, AubieSat-1 will be
tested at the NASA Kennedy Space Center for launch
