Local news. His son and a host of others on the website don't mention it
either.

Living in San Diego was a dreamworld for HAMs...there was/is HRO (Ham
Radio Outlet) and a long time radio store in downtown SD. HRO didn't put
the original store out of business, but it sure wreaked havoc with their
bottom line. Eventually they all ended up in the same industrial vicinity
and they're still surviving today.

I get a catalog from AES every now and then, but there's another one that
shows up in my mailbox that I can't recall who or where it comes from.

Browsing is the fun part...HRO used to carry used equipment (some on
consigment, some trade in)...I always made a point of visiting the used
stuff first.

8^) Nancy's not a HAM and you couldn't get her in a 'radio' store if you
paid her.

SD also had some surplus hardware stores where you could browse for hours
and Nancy wouldn't go there either. Drop her off at a shopping center and
she'd stay there longer than I'd be at the hardware store...I'd end up
waiting on her...
