I found the widcomm software to be horrible. I had versions licensed =
both to dlink and some other vendor. Neither worked and the support = folks
had no clue. I eventually fixed it myself by patching the widcomm =
executables. It still was not a good experience. I was very happy when = I
switched to Windows XP SP2 and the Windows bluetooth stack. I think = the
widcomm stack may support more profiles but I haven't encountered = anything
that hasn't worked for me and I no longer have multiple = bluetooth processes
running all the time or icons I can't remove.

Since you are running Windows XP XP2, you should not need the widcomm =
software. All you should need is the device driver for your bluetooth =
adapter.

I just got a Bluetooth-capable phone and thought I'd hook it up to a =
PC to
be able to enter names, etc easier. This is my first exposure to
Bluetooth and I was not impressed.

o The software wouldn't install on XP SP2 correctly. I had to =
call
tech support to get a correction procedure.
o The Bluetooth install dumped a perma-icon on the desktop called
"Bluetooth Neighborhood". Out of curiosity, I opened it and found
bluetooth transports to every serial device imaginable. The default
install opened up an incoming Bluetooth share. (Which I happened to =
see an
  exploit for recently).
o The connection to the Cell Phone was dog slow. I don't know if it =
was
the Bluetooth connection or the Java<g> on the cell phone.

Overall I just got a "Bad feeling" about the software so I decided =
to
  uninstall it.

o I uninstalled the main application. I have to reboot to =
continue.
o Find the irritating "Bluetooth Neighborhood" still on the =
desktop.
Finally find the Widcomm bluetooth uninstall. Have to reboot again.
o Find that the 2 uninstalls overlooked a Bluetooth Service and =
shared
  Bluetooth folder.

The software suite had a very Win98-ish feel to it due to the way =
it
installed, uninstalled and the amount of junk it created. I'll stick =
to a
USB cable for a while yet while the Bluetooth software suite matures.
