It is not all or none. You benefit as a domain owner, as mike miller =
did, simply by publishing your specification and every time a server =
implements checking. You benefit as an email recipient by implementing = the
checking and every time a domain publishes its specification. The = benefit is
incremental. Everytime someone else implements all, others = gain. It is not
all or none.

Spammers adopting this is wonderful. They have to identify their own =
domains which gets one serious problem out of the way. Great! Everyone = can
move on to other issues.

You are wrong, that's not all it requires unless you only exchange =
email with
one other server. If you do email with the whole world (not an =
unreasonable pov
for someone who runs ISP mail servers) then you need the whole world =
to
implement SPF checks or any one of them who doesn't could receive =
forged email
from your domain. The fact that YOU implement SPF is meaningless, it =
does
  nothing for YOU.

SPF is going to force some very small changes in the way spam and =
virus
propagation work, those changes are going to make things worse not =
better. You
watch, the net effect will be negative. Spammers have already adopted =
SPF
because it lowers the ratings on their spams, likewise virus writers =
will
realize there is an advantage to using the local SMTP server instead =
of
  emulating it.

Control is in the hands of the IP address owner and SPF ignores that, =
instead
it attempts to regulate things based on domain name instead of IP =
address. It's
the same approach that OCX uses and it's doomed to the same problems.

  Geo.

Not true at all. It only requires the sender domain to publish a =
record and
recipient to implement it. The recipient cares about no other senders =
or even
if the sender implements the checks.

Look no further than mike miller for an example of it working =
without
  everyone using it.

  Rich
