=====================
 ...

TR> A person or persons swept up in an area full of hostiles,
TR> usually with a weapon or weapons in their possession, or a
TR> cache of weapons near at hand, gets taken into custody.

And a person or persons who escaped Afghanistan into Pakistan,
without a weapon or cache of weapons either in their possession
or near at hand can be taken into custody also. As per quite a
few listed in the Wash Post listing of prisoners at Gitmo. Oh,
and the details are from the Military commission reports on
 inmates.

 snipurl.com/wapodetainees

TR> What their connection is or is not to a cache of weapons is
TR> determined later. The heat of combat is no time to be doing
TR> investigating into someone's connections or lack thereof to
TR> a cache of firearms, or bomb-making materials.

Nor is there time to investigate their connection to weapons
that are not there when they are arrested at a mosque. Afterall,
they may be praying Prayers of Mass Destruction.

 ...

TR> When what we do to terrorists equals cutting someone's head
TR> off with a sword, get back to me. And don't go off on all

The great diversion. If someone else ever did something
horrendous we should not consider the fact that our govt has
 done something just ordinarily bad.

TR> that high-horse crapola you spouted at a few others here
TR> about `being above that' and all that other horseshit. I've

Yeah, do you really think we are better than they are? What's
that? You do think we are better than they are? Come to think of
 it, that's right, we are.

 ...

DC>>This country failed to deal with the problems it helped create which
DC>>created the terrorists.

TR> The one thing this country did that reverberated down the
TR> years to the situation we are now in with regard to the
TR> Middle East, was to give recognition to the newly created
TR> state of Israel back in the late forties.

TR> That single act alone led to the ever-increasing hatred,
TR> and subsequent violence against the persons of American
TR> citizens we have experienced over the years.

Nah... I doubt very many Middle Easterners of any stripe
inherently give a damn one way or the other about Israel or the
Palestinians. That's just a diversion that keeps their
populations from looking around and realizing how much their
 government really needs overthrowing.

TR> And our support of Israel, in both money and equipment,
TR> over the years since has led to the situation we are in
 TR> today with al Qaeda.

I doubt support of Isreal is the problem, it's a justification
the Middle Eastern dictatorships have used to get away with
 oppressing their people.

TR> And Israel has repaid us by:

The list of complaints being quite accurate, no repetition
 necessary.

...

TR> The biggest problem America has had since about the first
TR> World War, is the American government's notion that it has
TR> to `spread democracy through the whole world'.

That was actually not a problem, since there was very little
done on that point. In fact, it was not spreading democracy, or
even really trying, that is the problem.

 ...

TR> And where we are today is as much because of that arrogance
TR> of `we have the best system ever' than anything else.

Uh... we do have the best system.

TR> George W. Bush is just a small part of what was begun
TR> probably before he was even born. His only connection to it
TR> is, he was unlucky enough to get elected president just as
TR> the terrorists, who have been murdering Americans for
TR> decades before he even came on the national scene, finally
TR> figured out the Mother of all terrorist acts to commit
TR> against America, and it came off within months of his
 TR> taking office.

Then he invaded the wrong country. Much like had FDR ordered an
invasion of Equador after Pearl Harbor.

TR> Had AlGore gotten into the White House, the act would still
TR> have gone forward. It was already in motion when the new
TR> president took office in 2001, regardless of whether it was
TR> Gore or Bush. It was going to happen. Get over it!

Gore would have handled it better. And Gore would have listened
 to Richard Clarke.

On top of all that, Gore might have had time to get the plan to
take down Bin Laden into play, and resolved that first thing. Or
 second thing.
