I haven't seen it for years; I'd like to rent it soon, so I probably will.

A scientist/pychiatrist invents a drug in the future that has unintended 
"side-effects." She uses it to treat a patient who has been conditioned 
for war by her society. It causes him to "recall" the memories of his 
childhood, and his ancestors, one of whom is Napolean. He basically 
mentally inhabits Napoleans body. The scientist tries to bring him back, 
and can only accomplish this by reasoning for reasons mentioned in the 
book. She has to take the drug herself of course. She then enlists the aid 
of one of *her* ancestors, a psychiatrist from the late 20th century.

I think the book itself is very well done, and has a lot of surprising and 
interesting twists and turns. I don't really know anything about 
Napolean, and his history, or French History. if I did, it would have 
probably been even a *better* read for me.

I Never saw that or read the book.

I might see it anyway; I never read the book. Though I've been more 
disappointed than satisfied with movies I've seen in the last 5 years.

Never saw that. I like the song though, by... that gal..Sarah Brightman, 
that's her name.

The only previous version I know of is the animated one. I didn't care for 
Lord of the Rings, no matter how good a movie it was, or how many Oscars 
it won. :) I've never been much for that type of fantasy; always geared 
more toward sci-fi.
