    * Records keystrokes

Aliases
    * WOOTBOT

Prevalence (1-5) 2

Description
W32/Forbot-BZ is a IRC backdoor Trojan and network worm for the Windows
platform.

Advanced
W32/Forbot-BZ is a IRC backdoor Trojan and network worm for the Windows
platform.

In order to run automatically when Windows starts up the worm moves
itself to the Windows system folder as mplayer.exe and creates the
following registry entries:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Win32 Configuration = mplayer.exe

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\
Win32 Configuration = mplayer.exe

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
Win32 Configuration = mplayer.exe

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Win32 Configuration = mplayer.exe

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\
Win32 Configuration = mplayer.exe

W32/Forbot-BZ also creates its own service named "Windows Manage", with
the display name "Win32 Configuration".

Once installed, W32/Forbot-BZ connects to a preconfigured IRC server and
joins a channel from which an attacker can issue further commands. These
commands can cause the infected machine to perform any of the following
actions:

flood a remote host (by either ping or HTTP)
start a SOCKS4 proxy server
start an HTTP server
start an FTP server
portscan randomly-chosen IP addresses
execute arbitrary commands
steal information such as passwords and product keys
upload/download files

The worm can spread to unpatched machines affected by the LSASS
vulnerability (see MS04-011) and through backdoors left open by the
Troj/Optix family of Trojans.

Name   W32/Agobot-NU

Type
    * Worm

How it spreads
    * Network shares

Affected operating systems
    * Windows

Side effects
    * Turns off anti-virus applications
    * Allows others to access the computer
    * Reduces system security
    * Records keystrokes
    * Installs itself in the Registry

Prevalence (1-5) 2

Description
W32/Agobot-NU is a worm and backdoor for the Windows platform.

The worm spreads by exploiting a number of vulnerabilities and network
resources protected by weak passwords and through backdoors opened by
other worms and Trojans.

The backdoor component connects to predefined IRC servers and waits for
commands from a remote attacker.

The software vulnerabilities exploited by W32/Agobot-NU are addressed by
Microsoft security bulletins MS04-012, MS04-011, MS03-007 and MS01-059.

Advanced
W32/Agobot-NU is a worm and backdoor for the Windows platform.

The worm spreads by exploiting a number of vulnerabilities and network
resources protected by weak passwords and through backdoors opened by
other worms and Trojans.

The backdoor component connects to predefined IRC servers and waits for
commands from a remote attacker.

When run W32/Agobot-NU copies itself to the Windows system folder as
winl0g0n.exe and adds the following registry entries to ensure that the
copy is run each time Windows starts:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Windows NT Update Manager = "WINL0G0N.exe"
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
Windows NT Update Manager = "WINL0G0N.exe"

The backdoor component includes functions that allow a remote attacker
to:

log user keystrokes
transfer files to and from the infected computer
start and stop processes
use the infected computer as a proxy server
launch distributed denial of service attacks

W32/Agobot-NU modifies the Windows hosts file in order to block user
access to the following web sites:

Description
W32/Rbot-OB is a network worm which attempts to spread via network
shares. The worm contains backdoor Trojan functions that allows
unauthorised remote access to the infected computer via IRC channels
while running in the background.

Advanced
W32/Rbot-OB is a network worm which attempts to spread via network
shares. The worm contains backdoor Trojan functions that allows
unauthorised remote access to the infected computer via IRC channels
while running in the background.

The worm spreads to network shares with weak passwords and by using the
following security exploits:

- LSASS exploit (MS04-011)
- RPC-DCOM exploit (MS03-039)

When run W32/Rbot-OB moves itself to the Windows System folder as a
read-only, hidden, system file named winxpini.exe.

The worm then creates the following registry entries so as to run itself
either on user logon or computer restart:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Microsoft Update Machine = winxpini.exe

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
Microsoft Update Machine = winxpini.exe

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Microsoft Update Machine = winxpini.exe

W32/Rbot-OB will also set the following registry entries:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole
EnableDCOM = N

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
restrictanonymous = dword:00000001

Once installed, W32/Rbot-OB will attempt to perform the following
actions when instructed to do so by a remote attacker:

- setup a HTTP proxy
- delete network shares
- download and run files from the Internet
- login to MS SQL servers and send EXEC commands to open a
command shell on the server
- perform port scanning
- scan IP addresses
- steal computer system information (computer name, available
memory, drive types)
- capture clipboard data
- capture screen information
- partake in denial of service (DDOS) attacks

The worm will also log keystrokes and store the captured information
into the file <Windows system folder>\system.txt

W32/Rbot-NV connects to an IRC server and waits for backdoor commands.

W32/Rbot-NV may spread to computers on the local network protected by
weak passwords and by exploiting a number of software vulnerabilities.

Advanced
W32/Rbot-NV is a worm with backdoor Trojan functionality.

W32/Rbot-NV is capable of spreading to computers on the local network
protected by weak passwords after receiving the appropriate backdoor
command.

W32/Rbot-NV will attempt to spread by exploiting the following
vulnerabilities:

WebDav (MS03-007)
LSASS and IIS5 SSL (MS04-011)
DCOM (MS04-012)
UPNP (MS01-059)
Microsoft SQL servers with weak passwords.
Buffer overflow in certain versions of DameWare (CAN-2003-1030)
Backdoors left open by other worms and Trojans such as W32/MyDoom,
W32/Bagle, Troj/Kuang and Troj/NetDevil.

W32/Rbot-NV may attempt to spread with a filename of BLING.EXE.

When first run, W32/Rbot-NV copies itself to the Windows system folder
as SVCHCST.EXE and runs this copy of the worm. The copy will then
attempt to delete the original file. In order to run each time Windows
is started, W32/Rbot-NV will set the following registry entries:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Windows NT Service Name = svchcst.exe

platform.

W32/Forbot-BU spreads through network shares and by exploiting the LSASS
(MS04-011) software vulnerability. The worm may also spread through
backdoors left open by other malware.

When first run, W32/Forbot-BU copies itself to the Windows System folder
as SndMon32.exe. In order to run automatically each time Windows is
started, W32/Forbot-BU sets the following registry entries:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
Windows Sound Manager = SndMon32.exe

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\
Windows Sound Manager = SndMon32.exe

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices\
