When I first looked at your instructions, it seemed a bit overwhelming.  [1]
I think the fact that the text is all squished in a narrow column has
something to do with it.  Reduce the font size, or let the text run across,
sides, AND bottom of an image. [2] Change the stuff in italics to another
colour than red.  Italics is good, but a difference in colour would make a
better visual connection to the corresponding image.  [3] Crop some of those
images and target the specific task or window.  A full screen capture isn't
necessary when an Alt-PrtSc of a currently active window will do.  Take a
look at my email version of OE-instructions that I sent to Jean P; it
illustrates the cropped image solution.  Copies of it have been floating
around.  I should still have a copy of that myself; I can forward it to you
if you like.  Also, Sean H's how-to demonstrates much that has been said

Regarding load times, I can understand how easy it might be to overlook the
importance of that too.  But if it takes too long to load the images that
the text instructions pertain to, then I'm not sure if an nntp-newbie is
going to sit around too long to bother with how things should look.
