  Please also include in Erie and Ontario, other US States that are
also looking at this problem with the great lakes, and both states
and provinces look to their federal governments for a little better
guidance then what is happening.

  We in Ontario, also have man made lakes which service the canal
system like the Trent Canal System.   Many people have brought property
on what they think is a natural lake, only to discover that during
bad seasons, they have nothing but mud flats, and a pond that used to
be a lake.   I have no idea if this goes on in the United States.

 TN> 'Tis time for the provinces and the states that border the great lakes
 TN> to get a treaty (i.e. neither nation can circumvent it without
 TN> consequences).  If we don't do something we may find our lakes drained
 TN> to water the desert around Las Vegas. 

  As Great Lake Provinces and States.,  They is always meetings going
on, and the issue is always given to our federal governments, where
they just sit there...nothing done.    Business interests both sides
have got the government I feel in their  back pockets, where it comes
to polution, and polution levels in fish for eating, as well where
water is diverted for agriculture, and other uses.

Both sides of the lakes there are groups just as you have stated
fighting this very issue, and are up against a stone wall.   If not
done, we may very well find outselves as in other countrys, with
deserts, where there was once water.   The only plus side to this
is new land, for either side of the border that separates Canada
from the USA.
 
 A sad state of affairs, but necessary for survival that we must
force change.  It has to be protected for the people of North
America.   It would also serve to help other places in the
world to do the same.

 This banter between us ... however is going no where.   

 Where I live on Lake Simcoe, I see the changes in the lake.
We also have here, on many sides of our lake, many groups just
pounding the local government over issues.   I don't see too
many provincially or for the country, but then it all depends
on what the media covers in the news.

Perhaps there is..and I missed it...who knows.

When I am in South America at the ocean, I see too many things as
well, and I am so happy that my nieces there are innvolved in
campaigning for the things I believe in....As it is for them too
not myself.   I was so proud to see her plays banned in her area
after one went into production.   I was happy to be at USP
the day they protested the condition of the river there, and
what was on the banks of the river....however I was prevented
from joining by my family there...due to my visa-passport
considerations.

Anyhow ... thanks for the message back.   Hope where ever you are
you maintain the fight for the lakes.  It is in all our interests.
