 That is a common technique for powering a remote RF unit. Your
 antenna mounted TV amps use it. I have a shielded radio antenna
 that uses that technique.

 Downconveted the uplink from 800 mhz to 75mhz? That's circular
 enough to justify circular polarization.

 Yeah, I'm sure you could. Ok, almost sure. 18VDC is what my
 shielded radio antenna uses, I think. Can't recall for sure now.
 It actually uses 9vdc for the amp, and a variable 9-18vdc to
 tune the antenna.
