BOBBY UNSER TO DRIVE A PORSCHE CAYENNE AS THE PACE VEHICLE
OF THE 84TH RUNNING OF THE PIKES PEAK INTERNATIONAL HILL
CLIMB

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb - June 23, 2006 - Colorado Spring,

PIKES PEAK INTERNAITONAL HILL CLIMB-2006

2006 marks the 90th. Anniversary of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
The race
began in 1916, but due to cancellations during the war years this will be the
84th running
of the "Race to the Clouds", the second oldest race in the country. Second
only to the
Indianapolis 500. Bobby is driving our pace car this year; which is a twin
turbo-charged
Cayenne. Bobby stated that, "Pikes peak is a different race because it goes
up to 14,110
feet and has 156 distinctive turns and all types of weather. The Porsche
Cayenne as the
pace car can handle all of those problems" "450 horsepower and the
turbo-charger
compensates for the altitude as you travel to the summit."

We are fortunate to have 13-time winner, our friend, Bobby Unser return to
Pikes Peak to
help us celebrate this exciting milestone. We will also have on display, on
loan from the
"Indianapolis 500 Museum" and courtesy of the "Unser Museum" in Albuquerque,
New
Mexico, Bobby's car #58. This car was known as the "Jerry Unser Special". This
priceless car will be on display at the "Start Line" on Race Day July 1st.
and at "Fan Fest"
in downtown Colorado Springs on Friday evening June 30th. This is a Jaguar
powered
open wheel race car that he won with in 1956 and 1958.

Louis Unser, affectionately known as "The Old Man Of The Mountain" started
the Unser
tradition on Pikes Peak in 1926 and ran 36 times. He won nine times and
posted six
records. The last year he drove was in 1967,at seventy-one years old. "Uncle
Louie"
passed away in 1979.

His nephew Bobby started his love affair with Pikes Peak in 1955. He ran 18
times, had
13 wins and 13 records. We are fortunate to have him drive the Porsche
Cayenne Pace
Car this year and he will be available to greet fans at "Fan Fest" on June
30th. and at the
"Start Line" on Race Day July 1st. David Bachoroski, Vice-President of the

Hill Climb Historical Association". Affectionately known as the "Over The
Hill Gang"

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a long-standing tradition in
Colorado Springs
and the second oldest motorsports event in the United States. An annual event
since
1916, 2006 marks the 84th running of the "Race to the Clouds" and the 90th
year since
the race first started. The race is run on a 12-mile course that begins at
9,200 feet and
finishes at the 14,110-foot summit of Pikes Peak. It features a variety of
automotive,
trucks, semi trucks, motorcycles, and ATV's, classes with an average of 150
competitors.
