Elliott Forbes-Robinson Recognized For Lifetime Achievements In Motorsports

Successful Race Car Driver to Enter Hall of Fame

DETROIT - After 37 years of racing, Elliott Forbes-Robinson has done it all:
Trans-Am, Can-Am, SCCA, NASCAR and most recently the Rolex Series are just
some of the series he's competed in. He's had much success over those years
and a substantial amount of it was obtained while driving GM race cars.
Forbes-Robinson, or EFR to his friends and fans, won eight SCCA championships
(one of them in a Corvette) and clinched the 1982 Trans-Am championship in a
Pontiac. This Thursday, he's being inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame
to honor a lifetime of racing achievement.

"During my racing career I've been lucky to be involved with various teams
running GM products," he said. "The cars have been fast and reliable which
enabled me to win races and championships. It didn't matter which brand - I
was able to win in Buicks, Pontiacs and Chevrolets."

Forbes-Robinson's most recent success with GM was only last year - he and
teammate Butch Leitzinger won two 2005 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series
races (the EMCO Gears Classic and Brumos Porsche 250) in the No. 4
Howard-Boss Motorsports Pontiac Crawford and finished third in points. He
also finished second overall at that year's Rolex 24 At Daytona driving the
Crawford DP03 with Leitzinger and NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson.

EFR was involved with one of the fastest and most exotic road racing cars GM
ever built - the Corvette GTP he raced had over 1,000 horsepower from a
turbocharged V-6. He wishes he could have continued to race the car but due
to series rule changes, the program was discontinued.

"I wish that IMSA had gone with the rules they went to in Europe when I was
in the Corvette GTP for Rick Hendrick. We had come up with a pretty good
package and were looking forward to a new engine and chassis. When IMSA
decided to not go with the 3.5-liter racing engines the program was
cancelled. It was too bad - I really enjoyed working with the engineers at GM
on this project."
