Hi Amy!
Don't feel too bad about it. Actually, if you really accounted for all
the expenses involved in that 'ecologically sound' public transport,
using your personal car would probably be a wash! There are a lot of
hidden expenses and pollutions in that public transport solution that
make it not as green as most would like. (It costs a lot of money and
energy to maintain those rights of way, the huge wastes of your time to
get from train A to train B, etc.)

As long as you don't drive a Suburban with just the two of you in it,
you are probably pretty well off.

Actually, my present VW Jetta wagon is the largest car I have ever
owned, but I bought it because I was going to build a new house, and
knew I would be hauling stuff back and forth. Before this, I had a
saturn (much like the G'Car, even blackberry in color...) but that was
too large and too small at the same time. Before that I had a Geo
Metro, a Justy, and a couple of Fiestas.

In the east, where you have actual weather, I can actually see having a
4WD vehicle. Hear in California, if you don't live in the mountains, I
don't understand the attraction... 8-)

Charlie
