His use of "wetback," at the very least, is well documented.  And unless you 
listen to him religiously, or are his archivist, your personal experience of 
him can't really be the yardstick.  I'm sure there are people who can say 
that they've never heard Anne Coulter say anything hateful.  :-p

Oh, he's said far worse than that.  Probably if you Google "Limbaugh" and 
"hate speech" someone has a compilation website somewhere.

Oh, really?  If I said that about Limbaugh, you can bet someone here would 
ask me for a specific citation.  So, I'll just add, since it seems to be 
acceptable in the context of this discussion: I've never heard Franken and 
others on Air America say anything hateful.  :-)

I don't know what to say about this, because I don't think it fits the 
parameters of what we're discussing.  Howard Stern was once really, really 
upset with the head of the FCC, and on his show, he did a segment in which he 
prayed -- actually prayed to God and to Jesus, with appropriately heavenly 
music behind him -- for that guy to get cancer, painful cancer (I think it 
was specifically rectal cancer), and die.  Now, _that_ is wishing someone 
death.  But the nonsense that surrounded this Totenberg comment really eluded 
me -- she was in no way _wishing_ that on Helms.  She was saying that if 
people got what they deserved, that's what she imagined would happen to him.  
That is a _far_ cry from "wishing AIDS on Helms."

To me, what Totenberg said is no different from things I've heard from 
Christian proselytizers after long discussions about the state of my soul.  
It usually goes about like this: "It was really nice to meet you, and it's a 
shame you'll be going to Hell."  If _that_ little gem from "good Christians" 
is not considered conversationally inappropriate, I don't see how Totenberg's 
comment can be.

Oh, please -- let's not start a badminton game of Who's More Hateful, because 
I can assure you that if we stacked up the quotes in a line, the higher 
numbers and the uglier sentiments will have come from the right.
