Sorry I didn't reply -- it had nothing to do with not _daring_; I simply
didn't have anything to say to you -- and, fyi, I know many fine people
working at Warner Bros. in departments other than Home Video -- but for the
record, I let Amazon know _exactly_ why I was returning the copy I'd
pre-ordered more than four months ago and incessantly followed up on about
the shipping date with them. Since there was no appropriate option in the
pull-down menu in the returns process, I called them up directly about it,
and also wrote the reason _on my return box_. I wanted to be sure they knew
_exactly_ why I didn't want their copy anymore. And if they offer a premium
next time around, I'll buy from them. But I'm still not rushing to order
four months in advance ever again. Who knows what can happen in the
intervening time, as we've seen this time around?

I never said, or implied, that all people who don't pre-order are lame-ass
fans who can't be bothered or _anything_ like that; the point was, and still
_is_, that people who put down their money (and don't split hairs on this,
Jan; for people who work for a living, pre-ordering _is_ putting down their
money), that the person who pre-orders a DVD more than four months before it
is available is, on the whole, a more obsessive, crazy, fanatical, devoted
fan than _on average_, the people who walk into a store to buy something
after it's been released. I'm _sure_ there are plenty of obsessive crazy
fans who walked into Best Buy yesterday to buy their only copy. But I am
equally certain that _no one_ who is a casual fan pre-ordered four months in
advance; which is why I think a bonus would have been, overall, more
appreciated by _that_ crowd.
