That's actually an excellent point.  One of the best bits of advice I got 
from my late, great boss in the music publishing industry was to _write that 
letter_.  Get it out of your system.  Call the entertainment lawyer every 
slimy name in the book, release all of the pent-up irritation you have with 
him, respond directly to ever subtle personal dig he threw at you in his 
letter...  Print it out.  Read it over.  And then _throw it out_ and write 
the _real_ letter you need to send.  It's amazingly useful advice.  I can't 
tell you how often it's served me outside of the context of that job.
