Personally, I'd like to see the differences between the Galen of
“Legions of Fireö and “The Passing of the Technomages,ö and the Galen of
Crusade, explained.  Galen seems to be a lot more powerful and adept and
in "The Passing of the Technomages" (Nov. 2258-2261).and in "Legions of
Fire - Armies of Light and Dark" pg. 58 in Dec. 2266 (No, it's not Dec.
2267.), than he does in Crusade in 2267.

In Crusade (e.g. when he threw his staff in "The Memory of War" and when
he is unable to save a certain character in "End of the Line"), was
Galen holding back?  I doubt it in the second example.  Seems to me that
the Galen of the trilogies, the Galen who is "one with the tech" (Dec.
2260->), could have easily done a few things to prevent a tragedy in
"End of the Line."  Or was Galen's inability a plot device to get to the
cliffhanger ending?

Or did Peter David and Jeanne Cavelos just make Galen too powerful in
the trilogies, and if so, why didn't JMS rein Galen's powers in a bit?
I've got to wonder how much of the seven basic 1-term spells was in
JMS's outlines and how much was Jeanne Cavelos' creation.

Was there going to be a story reason for the differences or was it just
an "Oops!" ?

I still have your excellent Save Crusade buttons, Tim.  Excalibur's been
my desktop wallpaper on both PCs for the past seven years.  :-)
