Yes, I know people use it for that.  I used to use FTP back in 1998 to
send/receive FidoNet mail.  It was not reliable though.  It's quite possible
that it's become more reliable 10 years later, but that doesn't change what I
said.

What FTP client are you using?

Well, good.  My point is that it wasn't designed into the FTP protocol.  It's
an afterthought.  You could do the same with HTTP if you really wanted to. 
Maybe someone already has.  It would be fairly easy to adapt the
SimpleHTTPServer class in Python to do something like that.

BinkP's overhead will cause inefficiencies but 1/3rd efficiency does not sound
right.  It may be the BinkP clients you're using are not as efficient as they
could be.  I don't think that really matters though.  Let me know the next time
you regularly receive a 700 Mb mail bundle.
