Hey mark!

May 08 14:34 07, mark lewis wrote to Maurice Kinal:

Ah! I get it now. So does my custom "package". Has for over a decade now.
Upgraded whenever it feels a need to as well. Just a sec ...

Works great so far. This is on the em64t jobber I call my workstation. A real
PIA to get to this stage of the game but now that the pain is behind me I must
admit it was well worth it.

Opposite situation here. Nobody other than myself with binkd at the moment.
I'll try and sucker the neighbour in now that he owes me a HUGE favour.
That'll have to be wireless though.

MK>> None of which I want.

ml> ok, so don't use it!

Not to worry. ;-)

ml> so, you're not going to get away from bloat anyhow...

Yes I am. Just a sec ...

That is the 486 with binkd mounted on /home/fido which is the usb 'plug and
play' flash disk. It hasn't even put a dent in that disk yet. Note that the
ramdisk has lots of room available as well but beats me what it could possibly
want to fill it. Can you replicate the above with OS/2?

ml> yeah, just like i keep telling my boys, sure, you're different...
ml> just like all the other baggy britches wearing gansta wannabes...

I am not one of your boys.

ml> run guis on most everything here but i spend 99% of my time in one or
ml> more textmode shells... it isn't a big deal...

No gui here. Lots of room too. I have quite a bit of source code bloating up
a partition or two and need to go over some of that but the systems here aren't
bloated at all, other than the one I build xorg 7.2 for the neighbour on. He
has a backup archive of that and once he gets his act together I'll make up a
usb flash disk recovery thingy for it so there will be that as well. One step
at a time.

MK>> So I can get exactly what I want from bootup. Currently it is the
 MK>> only way.

ml> hehehe, i hear that all the time but the biggest laugh is that most
ml> don't have a clue what they want...

I know exactly what I want and now I know how to get it in a number of
different configurations too. :-)

 ml>i hear things like "i want a
 ml> search on my webpage"...

Yeah right. When I hear stuff like that I say "have fun" or "ask Bill" or
something along those lines.

ml> "ok, what are you going to search?"...

Usually porn from what I've witnessed thus far.

ml> "ummm, my webpage"... "ok... do you really need a search to hunt thru
ml> 500 words that you have on that page?" hehehe...

500 words!?!?!?!?!?!? Usually there aren't words at all but instead icons,
graphics, etc stolen from other web orientated dweebs.

Life is good,
Maurice
