Right.  I've never seen anything remotely OS/2 on any *nix.  The only app I am
aware of that ever got ported from that direction is/was ncftp but I wonder how
closely that is related to OS/2 anymore other than it's initial beginnings
there.

I was just reporting what I saw on the site about the beta version.  They
didn't seem too keen on pointing out how any of the newer stuff relies on OS/2,
other then that OS/2 apps could run on eCS, as well as DOS apps.  They didn't
claim that eCS required anything DOS in order to work.  Seems to me both OS/2
and DOS got the same treatment.

I am only going by what they claimed was part and parcel of their beta version
and they seemed to be bragging far more about *nix ports then OS/2
compatibility, and nothing of consequence about anything OS/2, and didn't
really say that it required anything that could be considered native OS/2 in
order to function.  You tell me.  They aren't telling.  Whether or not what
they are not saying is true or not is not evidenced at the site that I could
tell.

How would I know that?  I haven't seen a copy of OS/2 since 96-ish.  Where can
I get a copy for comparison?

How does the above compare to what is being proposed to the next release of eCS
(eg the current beta which I assume is the foundation of the next release)?

I have neither.  I am happy with Linux and especially having access to the
latest kernel releases and the compiler to comile them if and when I want to. 
I see little reason to want abandonware (OS/2 Warp 4) and especially not a
clone of abandonware (eCS 1.2).  Both look like a dead end.
