JP> Hello Dan, we were saying !

 DC> My Blue Wave Sig....

JP> You are one step again, ahead of me. I do not make this
JP> signature thingee a major obstacle to my happiness but I would like
JP> to see it done. So far, when I save a message a wisdom, it says that
JP> the Signature file : Sig can not be found. OK ! I went to the
JP> Preference and named a file "Sig". Where to place it and what to
JP> place in it ? I opened a file in the BW folder and named it SIG and
JP> wrote a short one-line message as .txt but it will not find it. F1
JP> does not tell me what to do with it.

If what you are looking for is a Sig, and not a Tagline...

Preferences
 Msg Area Preference Override
  Local Fido-Blue Wave
   File and String Preferences
    Signature File Name C:\BWAVE\BLUEWAVE.SIG

You could also enter the info in the:
 Default Preferences
area, if you want to be prompted for that *.SIG file in any message area.
Or make a DEFAULT.SIG for there, and specialize for specific message areas.

                            Signature File Name
                            -------------------

After saving a new message, or a reply to an existing message, the reader
will copy the entire contents of this file to the END of your message. This
is commonly referred to as a "signature file", as it contains the text that
will be appended (i.e. the signature) to the end of the message text.

Here are a few guidelines that you should be aware of before employing the
use of a signature file. Remember that this is solely an editorial.

 1) The use of signatures in most FidoNet EchoMail areas is strongly frowned
upon. You can probably get away with a one- or two-line signature, but
any more than that may get you a moderator reprimand.

 2) It is customary to have a four to six line signature at the end of
Usenet newsgroup messages. If you have experience with Usenet, you will
recognize the signature as the most-often-times "boxed" closing at the
     end of a Usenet posting.

 3) The reader does not try to play "Big Brother" with the use of signature
files and taglines; if you give the reader a 300 line signature to place
at the end of your posts, it will not complain. Use your own discretion
     when creating your signature files.

 4) The contents of the signature file is copied to your new messages after
the message text. If you desire to *also* place a tagline on a message,
the tagline will be placed AFTER the contents of the signature file. It
is highly recommended that you not use both a signature and a tagline in
Usenet areas. (In fact, it is recommended that you never use a tagline
     in Usenet areas.)

 5) It may be appropriate to use both a signature file and a tagline when
the contents of your signature file contains only a blank line, your
name, and then another blank line.

We strongly urge you to use common sense when creating your signature files.
Multi-line signatures containing ASCII or ANSI art should probably be
avoided when posting in amateur messaging networks such as FidoNet and RIME
(since SysOps are the ones who pay to move the mail around, and large mail
 packets cost more money).
