This is a pretty offtopic post, so the ontopicizer goes
on top (ick, what a bad pun) ...

Lemon shrimp with asparagus and angel hair
cat: main, shellfish, pasta
servings: 4

1 lb asparagus spears, trimmed
1 Tb EVOO
1/2 lb medium shrimp, peeled, deveined
1/2 c chopped bell pepper (red, yellow, or green)
1/4 ts red pepper flakes, optional
1 c half-and-half
1/2 ts salt
2 Tb lemon juice
2 ts lemon zest
8 oz angel hair
1/4 c freshly grated Parmesan

Cut asparagus into 1 in pieces. Blanch in boiling
water for 30 sec. Drain, refresh, and set aside.

Saute together shrimp, pepper, pepper flakes, and
asparagus for 5-7 min or until shrimp is opaque.

Reduce heat to medium-low. Add half-and-half and
salt. Heat through, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package
directions. Drain and return to pot.

Add shrimp sauce to pot and toss. Add lemon juice
and zest and toss again. Sprinkle with cheese and
serve

I'm a total agnostic. I'd like to have echo picnics in the
sky in the year 2100 and forevermore, but I'm not exactly
counting on it. There are those - my brother included -
who would maintain that I'd be consigned to the aitch place
just by virtue of my not believing in it. But there are
those, such as Carol's friend George, who would say that
the intercessions of the faithful (posthumous conversion)
would suffice to bring the unbelievers to eternal life. I
hope that if there's a big set of scales up there, the
modest amount of good I've done would outbalance the
modest amount of bad, and the trappings won't matter.

 The comfort that the faithful find in

I have no problem with that, and in fact if they do better
when they pray and worship, all the better. Just don't, whether
you're Shinto, Confucian, Muslim, Christian, or Jew, try to
tell me that your way is better than that of me or any of these
other people.

Mine are somewhat philosophically informed, though I admit not
wholly consistent; and heathen would not be a bad description
of me as well. Respect, well, it's the same as my attitude
toward freedom of expression. I don't care what you eat, just
so you don't feed me blue cheese or raw cucumber; I don't care
whether you're a pacifist, just so your fist doesn't find its
way to my nose; and I don't care how you pass your time, just
so you keep your hands off my ass. But if you try to do these
things that infringe on my own space, the respect goes down
pretty close to zero pretty quickly.

I was worried that Carol's financial well-being (as she's sort of
in the defense industry) depended on Fortuna Dubia Dubya ...
