I've lived there (grin) so I'm familar with the area....we got it beat hands 
down....both fresh water and salt water (grin) and we have tuna charters, 
halibut charters, Salmon charters, Lingcod, Black Seabass, red snapper, 
Cabezon, greenling, sockeye salmon, steelhead, Kokanee, silver salmon, King 
salmon, tom cod, true cod, flounder, and more (grin) You can go out on a 
charter any day of the week and of course you keep your catch! If you go 
out for tuna (at the end of the summer august/sept there is no limit on tuna 
so you can really load up (they split the catch evenly among the charterer's 
so if you, Don, and Charlotte went you'd get three shares...even if only Don 
fished! Last time I went ( it has been a few years however) I came back with 
24 tuna all about 8-14 pounds each. And I even know a few high  country 
lakes where there are artic char! Oh and we have sturgeon in the rivers as 
well.....you have to throw them back if they are over 6 feet long though....or 
under 3 feet I think as well! My personal favorite is halibut...in the 35-60 
pound range...one of the best tasting fish in the world for my money! 
Even if you never get stationed here, you should come for a vacation!
