And you probably enjoyed it, just as we enjoy Veggie Tales.  LAst year
when we visited Rachel and David, after Robert went to bed we watched
various DVDs, including "Chicken Run", "Finding Nemo" and others, some
more grown up than others.  Now we've got to loan them our copy of "The
Great Escape" so they can see how CR parodied it.

A couple of other notes:  Our friends that had to take the Bullet train
& have their luggage shipped on a separate freight train had no problems
with it.  They reported that their baggage was in the hotel room waiting
for them.  The trip was over all enjoyable except he's more of a meat &
potatoes guy and some of the Japanese diet was a bit too exotic, vtofu
being definately something he could easily live without.  OTOH, she
enjoyed the food but I mentioned something about the "squattie potties"
which brought lots of laughs and comments that the plumbing was either
that or these super toilets with lots of bells and whistles to try out.

Steve had his levy brief (orientation to moving procedure, required
before we can make any transportation appointments, etc.) today.  As I
recall from his brief in Germany, there was nothing specific about
returning to the States and how it would affect kids culturally.  We
went over there when Rachel was in the first half of 3rd grade, returned
just before freshman year of high school.  Deborah was in first grade
when we went, returned just before 7th grade.  The bigger adjustment
will be for her if her current school is a middle school and she goes to
a junior high set up or is in junior high now and goes to a middle
school.  In a middle school, the kids seem to be influenced by their
peers more so than junior high.  Either way, expect her to want to binge
on fast foods not available in Japan.  Also, if she's had more freedom
to roam (housing area to exchange/commissary/school) in Japan, she may
find that it's not as easy to do in the States, especially if the public
transportation isn't as acessible/cost friendly.  For a while she may
want to move back to Japan but as she adjusts to living in the States,
it should settle down.  You may want to carry over (if possible) some
little traditons you've established over there, especially holiday ones.
Best word of advice--don't sweat it; know there will be little hitches
in the readjustment but they will smooth out in time.  Charlotte will
always remember the time spent in Japan and be richer for having the
experience.
