The small glass of port is to be served *after* the flask of rum and
litre of red.  That makes it a nightcap.

Perhaps that is a deep-seated fear from the days of the Cold War, when
in her youth she was frightened by the threat of an invasion of
Russian vodka drinkers.

Something wrong there, as "pero" means "but".  More likely that it
would be "Wala Lang Pera", usually shortened to "Walang Pera", a
phrase I am very familiar with, meaning, "No money".

"Procedure-Industrious", ie difficult.

"Procedure-lazy", ie easy.

I am not sure why that dish would have been given that title, as it is
not particularly low cost.

      Title: GROUPER SINIGANG
 Categories: Mains, Fish, Filipino, Asia-se
      Yield: 4 servings
 
     40 g  Tamarind powder; OR
    1/2 c  ; lime juice, OR
    1/2 c  ; lemon juice
      3    Garlic cloves; minced
      1 lg Onions; minced
      4    Tomatoes- plum; chunked
      2 tb Oil- vegetable
      2 c  Radishes; trim
      1 kg F- grouper fillets
      1    Chillies- serrano
      1 kg Kangkong; OR
      1 kg ; spinach
      1 tb Soy sauce
    1/2 ts Sp- black pepper, ground
 
  Whether beef, fish, or shellfish is the basis for this stew, sinigang
  is the classic dish of the Philippines. Sour fruit such as tamarind,
  calamansi [small Filipino lime] or kamias [sour fruit] lend a
  pleasingly tart flavour.
  
  Combine the tamarind powder with 2.5L water in a large pot. Bring to
  the boil over high heat.
  
  Meanwhile, saute the garlic, onions & tomatoes in the oil for 3 or 4
  minutes, or till onion is translucent. Add to the tamarind water.
  Fold in the whole radishes & simmer 3 minutes. Add the prawn, chilli,
  kangkong, soy & pepper to the mixture & simmer a further 5 or 6
  minutes, or till the fish is cooked & the kangkong is tender-crisp.
  Ladle into pre-warmed soup bowls & serve steaming hot.
