Hi Hap,

Every day is better than the one before. Last week at this time I wasin
utter misery; today I have a bit of pain in the foot but hardly anything
compared to what I was going thru.

-> If our girls were around, they could help.  Once they hit high school,
-> it seemed like I was back to doing it all by myself.

It wasn't as much socialising as school or church activities. Friday and
Saturday nights they generally did the group thing--football games, a
movie, etc for the most part.

-> My parents did do some travel but I think they ate mostly very familiar
-> things; I could look at a menu and almost always know what they would

There's a small Chinese place in my parent's town--in the old post
office building.  It's been there now probably 20 or more years and does
a surprisingly good business, probably because it's such an unusual
place for that town. (The town is very rural, population of under 1,000,
about 3.5 hours above NYC.)  My parents get stuff from them every so
often, usually when we're visiting but occasionally on their own.  It's
not the finest dining around but our visits give mom & dad a chance to
break away from their standard meat & potatoes routine. (G)

That's the way to learn it--but it is colored by the local point of view
also.  Same as parts of the south like here in Savannah; you never refer
to the "Civil War" but something like "the late conflict with our
neighbors to the north" or the war between the states" unless you want
to be labeled with the "Y" word. (G)

Not even enough room in a pocket? Well, you could have done worse; you
were relatively near civilisation and could get your hunger pangs
satisfied quickly once you decided to.

Told him the other day I got my Valentine's Day a bit early with his
taking care of me thru this siege. (G)
