  No, he is not with Sacerdote.  Dave misunderstood the question and was
  referring to Manny Rothstein.   He has not had the moose at his place,
  and Hap says that he did not go to him either.   I don't know where I
  got that file.   I do sort of recall that he toured with xxCarol, and
  maybe she does still have him.


MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Dave's Mixed Bean Soup
 Categories: Soup, Stew
      Yield: 6 Servings
 
      1 lb Mixed Beans; (see note)
      2    Ham hocks; smoked
      1 lg Onion; chopped coarsely
      1 lg Parsnip; peeled and diced
      2 lg Carrots; peeled and sliced
      2    Celery ribs; with leaves,
           - chopped
      2    Bay leaves
      8 oz Tomato sauce
           Salt and pepper to taste
           Dried Basil to taste
           Dried Oregano to taste
           Parsley to taste
 
  Wash and pick through the beans to discard bad ones and stones.  Place
  in a large kettle or Dutch oven, cover with cold water 2 inches over
  the top of the beans, and bring to a rapid boil.  Boil beans hard for
  one minute, then shut off the heat and allow to stand, covered, for
  an hour.
  
  Drain any remaining water from the beans and put them in a big, heavy
  stockpot with all the remaining ingredients.  Add water or chicken
  stock to cover (about 3 quarts or so.)  Bring to a boil over high
  heat, then immediately lower heat to a simmer.  Simmer for at least
  three hours, adjusting seasoning as needed (if you relied on the
  smoked pork hocks for the only salt in the pot when you started the
  soup,you'll want to add about a tablespoon of salt to the pot after
  the simmering time.  It sounds like a lot, but there's gonna be about
  a gallon of soup in there, so it really isn't.)
  
  Remove hocks from the soup.  Discard bones and skin, and return the
  meat to the pot.  At this time, you can also add some leafy greens to
  the soup, like beet greens or spinach if available.
  
  Serve hot with a crusty rye or pumpernickle bread.

  Note about Mixed Beans:  You can buy beans in bulk and mix them
  yourself (like I do), or you can buy pre-mixed beans in the grocery
  store.  A typical commercial "15 Bean Soup Mix" usually contains a
  mixture similar to this, with beans listed first being the most
  heavily represented: Dark red kidney;  light red kidney;  pinto;
  black-eyed pea;  navy (pea) bean;  Great Northern bean;  baby lima
  beans;  split yellow pea;  split green pea;  brown lentil;  butter
  beans;  black beans;  chick peas (garbanzos); whole green pea; pearl
  barley.
