That sounds a bit odd for a school calendar.  I went to school in New
York State; we'd have prom in mid May (I never went), finals about the
2nd week of June, Regents (high school level state wide testing) the
next week and graduation the Friday night of that week.  Everybody went
to school (K-12) all that time except during Regents week; if you didn't
have an exam, you didn't have to go to school until the last day which
was mostly an awards assembly for grades 9-11.  Not all high school
subjects had Regents exams so I had something like 2 in freshman and
senior years and 5-6 the other years.

I see; was the student caught and charged?  How big is your class?  We
set a record (at the time) with 63; it was broken a few years later but
now I understand the average class is under 30.

Is the Log Cabin catering a diner before prom?  When our older daughter
was a senior, her boyfriend and 2 other guys cooked (and cleaned up as
much as they could) a meal for their dates.  It saved them the cost of
going out for a meal and taught the guys a bit of fancy cooking.  Our
daughter's boyfriend (now husband) was living with a family that
included a good friend of his; the mom there was kind enough to give
them free "run" of the kitchen with some basic cooking instructions for
what they were making.  After they left for the prom, I had a
taste--pretty good.(G)
