 I haven't tasted the raw herb, nor have
 I smoked it, but the stench of it in burnt
 form I have experienced, in my dorm at
 Alabama and later at a SuperBowl party hosted,
 I was sorry to note, by a pair of HS teachers.
 Anyway, I hope granny found a substitute legal
 herb for her soups.

 The hemp part of the plant might not have much
 digestible nutrition, just fiber. I guess he
 wanted non-poisonous volume to fill his belly
 while he starved himself. And the bread was
 commercial...I could not imagine this guy
 trying to bake!

 The guy was a bit peculiar, himself, one of
 the people I would duck if he made a
 sentimental trip back to the old department.
 I don't think he considered scientific
 evaluations of his food in the same context
 as he considered his lab work. Different
 mental compartments!

 I'll throw in a bread he wouldn't have
 considered while dieting. I don't know
 if I have tried this one, probably not.
 When I was in grad school, I sampled a
 beer bread which was delicious, made by
 the wife of one of my co-grad-students.
 But she adamantly refused to share her
 recipe. I have tried a few since, and
 never liked them as much.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

      Title: Beer Bread 2
 Categories: Breads, Easy
      Yield: 1 Loaf

      3 c  Self-rising flour
      3 T  Sugar
      1 c  Warm beer (12-oz. can)

  Mix ingredients together. Raise 3/4 hour. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45
  minutes. Butter top and bake 10 minutes longer. Greased bread pan.
