========================================================================
Hey Ruth!
->
-> Busy week end--made a batch of strawberry jam, strawbverry shortcake
and
-> other stuff on Saturday, then a rhubarb pie and mega mirgaine yesterday.
->
-> -> You're a good bit younger than they are; Dad celebrated his 85th
-> -> birthday in January and Mom, her 78th. Healthwise, he's in better
shape
->
-> hn> Yup we're a lot younger than that (grin) and both in fairly good
-> hn> health (even considering my heart attack). So I expect we'll have lots
-> hn> of trips ahead of us!
->
-> Enjoy them while you can.
->
->
Every blinkin one I get to go on is a plus at this point! This coming weekend
Anne has to attend a seminar for National Board Certified Teachers in the
little town of Leavenworth WA. The seminar is Sat and Sun, but Anne's
principal "owes" her a day off so she's taking this friday and we will (along
with Scuppers the schnauzer) go to Leavenworth and enjoy a friday night out
and then Saturday I'll drop Anne off at the seminar"retreat" and Scuppers and
I will enjoy the town on our own (grin) and pick Anne up on Sunday Afternoon
and come back home...Jonesy will be fine with extra food and water in her
cage and she'll only sulk for a day when we return (grin).

-> -> is in the rebuilding process. Some will go for the trip this summer tho.
->
-> hn> Anne wanted to take me back to Europe this summer but I talked her
out
-> hn> of it. Not because I don't want to go, but because we just have so
-> hn> much "on our plate" at this time I don't want to rush the trip and we
-> hn> just don't have a month or 6 weeks to spare. I'd love to go back to
my
-> hn> old stomping grounds and see some of the things I saw as an early
->  hn> teen. But it'll wait.
->
-> I know you would enjoy it, as she would too, seeing things you saw as a
-> teen ager and now seeing again. How much longer will she be teaching?
-> Save the trip for her retirement maybe?
->
->
-> -> to go. One of my brothers and one sister spent 3 weeks in Italy on a
-> -> high school student tour (put in after I graduated) but the other
-> -> brother and sister have only been to Canada as a foreign country. I've
-> -> been to Canada, Mexico, Germany (east and west), England, Belgium,
the
-> -> Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland, as well as a good part of the
-> -> United States so can't really kvetch about not going back to Europe I
->
-> hn> Gosh, I'd have to really sit down and think about my "list" Panama,
-> hn> mexico, canada, france, spain, Morocco, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon,
-> hn> Turkey, Greece, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, England, Belgium,
->  hn> Netherlands, Denmark,
-> hn> Phillipines, Japan, I think I have not been to Utah or Alaska but the
-> hn> rest of the states are included as well as Guam.
->
-> You've got a few more years on you than I do, plus your Navy time which
-> extends the list. Most of my time in Europe, I was a mom to 2 girls so
-> I couldn't just take off and explore as you did. Still managed to see
-> quite a bit tho; some of our friends never left the immediate area.
->
Oh I grant you I took as much advantage of being out and about in the world
as I was able to get away with! Could never understand many of my friends
who could/would only talk about "the states" and what they did there and
what they were going to to when they got back....what? Did their life go
on "hold" while they were in some of the most interesting places on the
planet? NOT ME...I explored every chance I got! and met some wonderful
people along the way!

-> -> Very much so! That's partly why I've been doing the mega cooking
-> -> lately. May as well, as long as I can be on my feet. Having a stool in
-> -> the kitchen to semi sit on when doing some tasks helps also.
->
-> hn> Now that we are back from the spring trip I've started to build up the
-> hn> freezer larder as well.
->
->
-> Mine is getting to the full point. But, we've got rice and several
-> other grains stowed in there too, as well as meal stuff.
->
Ours is way too small for that!
->
-> -> hn> and often taking things down to Amanda. My next car may be
smaller.
->
-> -> Surprisingly, there's a lot of storage in the Focus wagon. We got the
-> -> SES version and realise now it holds more than the Vibe, Matrix, Versa
-> -> or Fit (all ones we'd considered at one time or other).
->
-> hn> The Vibe has very flexible seating as well as a regular 110V plug in
->  hn> for laptops
->
-> Makes it nice but keep your eyes on the road. A guy was killed recently
-> when a trooper glanced at his laptop.
->
It's for CHARGING them you ninny! (grin) not USING THEM! (although Anne
could use hers while I drove I suppose).BTW what was on the guys laptop
that made the trooper kill him when he glanced at it? (Grin)
->
-> hn> or other devices right in the dash. It has more "clearance" and
-> hn> vertical space than the focus wagon and for our needs it is ideal.
->
-> -> hn> Good! Too bad they couldn't swing down your was as well!
->
-> -> I know but they only had a week. Ended up staying overnight one more
-> -> night and gettng an early flight out the next morning because of
weather
->
-> hn> That's one of the reasons we seldom make a trek to the east coast.
-> hn> When we do someone is sure to get shortchanged as we have SO
many
->  hn> relatives
-> hn> spread out over the east coast from NY to Fla....there's NEVER
enough
->  hn> time
->
-> Don't we know it! At least Steve's siblings are all within a few miles
-> of each other. ON my side, it's my parents we see; any others that come
-> to see us there are extra.
->
Dealing with the noses that get bent out of shape is often more trouble than
it's worth!
chat with you soon
