CS> Yes, we'll have to tighten down on that. Very different from here.

RH> Better start letting her know now so it won't be a major shock. (G)

(wandering in town) Yes. We have been talking about it.

CS> I just finished working my shift at the local Furniture Bazaar (and
CS> other stuff got added in, rug maker, jewlrey, asian dolls in cases,
CS> etc). Really nice stuff for prices you wont see outside here. The
CS> little end table I got would sell for 600$ stateside easy, was marked
CS> helping. I helped some new folks find their way back to the base
CS> (walking). Charlotte helped the food sales place.

RH> Sounds like it would have been fun to explore. Any thimbles? One of t
RH> bazaars in Frankfurt occaisonally had Hummel ones; I got several.

Not that I noticed but then that isnt really a craft here. The majority of the
stuff was furniture and kimonos.

CS> it though. She's gonna have to repeat this year's english i think...

RH> Summer school?

CS> I guess. Not sure what happens.

RH> She will outgrow it eventually.

Yes, as she reads off the scale for what they test now at her grade.

CS> She spent her time reading 'Linux Unleashed' instead of doing her book

RH> Couldn't do a book report on that?

CS> Thats what we worked out. She's finishing it up this weekend.

RH> She should have thought to have asked the teacher about doing the repo
RH> on it originally.

None of us did. It's a technical book on UNIX software. Not your normal book
report stuff and definately odd for her age group.

She got a B+ with a side note that she'd done very well with the technical
parts of the bibliography and adapting to use a web based reference. Her only
reason for not getting an A was 'rambling writing' in a few spots and no clear
'summary' which we will work on. Considering she has 3 F's in a row on her
report card, this shows she can do much better but is bored. They do not have
advanced english classes at her age group here.

Oddly she's holding steady in math which isnt her strong point at all. Not
great, but steady. She may have finally 'hit her pace' there.

 CS> Cool!

RH> Shows that there's hope yet; don't give up on Charlotte. Right now
RH> Deborah is somewhere in Maryland (not sure if it's Fort Meade or not)
RH> for another school.

Oh I wont give up ever, but she might end up having to delay college a bit and
go military for a time. You get big breaks on your grades when you ask for
college entrance then. Tech school might suit her better.

I've been thinking about it and we might take her to a SANS conference. Thats
a very very geeky computer conference. If we do it early enough, she can get
a taste of what it will take to do what she really wants and how important
grades can be to get there. The only 'issue' will be Charlotte has to deal
with it being a definate working conference for Mommie and not *cheap* to pay
for so you suck up every chance to learn while there. Cost will be appx 5,000$
for both of us. CISSP exam update for me is in addition to that. BOFs are
free though if they will let a kid in (they serve alcohol).

CS> her age group. 34B is a little loose still but 32B is tight. 34A is
CS> just about right depending on the style but some are too small. (The

RH> Check on line; I think it's Haines, but could be another company, make
RH> odd sizes. They're hard to find in stores so on line is probably your

CS> Actually I can get her outfitted easier here but have to go in town.
CS> She's a little bigger but not my much, than the average Japanese lady.
CS> Thats why the base doesnt stock 'teen bras' much.

RH> We had trouble in Germany because we the PX was on the small side, bot
RH> in Frankfurt and Berlin, but did manage to find "close enough" for our
RH> girls.

Works for me. She's a 34B now although a few are too loose and a rare few are
a bit small. The base mostly sells 36B and bigger with only a very small
selection of padded 'pushup' bras mostly at her size.

RH> I still don't have the beef bones. I just finished simmering down abo
RH> 4 quarts of stock into one. We smoked turkey breast abut a week ago,

CS> I dont have much in that line but locally out in town I can get them.
CS> Here, they are still pretty cheap. 50cents or so for a good 2 lb bag
 CS> of chopped marrow bones.

RH> I'll have to check; we're shopping more in town now than we did in HI
RH> AZ.

I did same when stateside and in Hawaii. It worked then but here, some things
(as you know) you just cant get or cant recognize because of the packaging.
I've not managed to figure out washing machine laundry soap for example and
dont want to destroy our clothes by accidently using just pure powdered bleach
when I cant tell. I'm sure I could just carefully match up the 'picture
script' but that would take too long. It just easier to get it at the base.

RH> then peppers.

CS> Baskets would well for the smaller items. Tubs work great to handle
CS> tomatoes. For 'hot peppers' it would be banana peppers for me. I like
 CS> those quite a bit.

RH> Steve would want habbies; I'd go for jalapenos. We've not really
RH> discussed it and growing season is upon us.

Best get some seedlings then! The time is right! Plant too late, and you get
no peppers. Container gardens are even worse about that except tomatoes will
still crop if planted late.

                                       xxcarol
