====================================================================
Happy May Day Ruth!

-> -> hn> health (even considering my heart attack). So I expect we'll
have lots
-> -> hn> of trips ahead of us!
->
-> -> Enjoy them while you can.
->
-> hn> Every blinkin one I get to go on is a plus at this point! This
coming
-> hn> weekend Anne has to attend a seminar for National Board Certified
-> hn> Teachers in the little town of Leavenworth WA. The seminar is Sat
and
->  hn> Sun, but Anne's
-> hn> principal "owes" her a day off so she's taking this friday and we
will
-> hn> (along with Scuppers the schnauzer) go to Leavenworth and enjoy a
-> hn> friday night out and then Saturday I'll drop Anne off at the
-> hn> seminar"retreat" and Scuppers and I will enjoy the town on our own
-> hn> (grin) and pick Anne up on Sunday Afternoon and come back
-> hn> home...Jonesy will be fine with extra food and water in her cage
and
-> hn> she'll only sulk for a day when we return (grin).
->
-> Sounds like fun for all except Jonesy. Find any interesting little
-> eateries you want to go back to?
->
Jonesy will be angry for a day or two but it's not practical to bring her
along...and we leave the radio on for her to listen to and she has a cage
full of toys to play with. She won't be happy but she'll be ok. You should
do a google on Leavenworth. Back in the '60's the town was dying, so they
got together and tried to figure out what they could do to keep the town
"alive"...they came up with the Bavarian Mountain village theme, rebuilt
most of the town's storefronts and geared themselves to a tourist based
economy (the area has lots of recreational opportunities both summer and
winter) and it has been a popular place to visit since then! When Amanda
was younger we'd usually go twice a year, once in the winter to cross
country ski and once in the summer to enjoy the mountains.

-> -> You've got a few more years on you than I do, plus your Navy time
which
-> -> extends the list. Most of my time in Europe, I was a mom to 2 girls
so
-> -> I couldn't just take off and explore as you did. Still managed to
see
-> -> quite a bit tho; some of our friends never left the immediate area.
->
-> hn> Oh I grant you I took as much advantage of being out and about in
the
-> hn> world as I was able to get away with! Could never understand many
of
-> hn> my friends who could/would only talk about "the states" and what
they
-> hn> did there and what they were going to to when they got
back....what?
-> hn> Did their life go on "hold" while they were in some of the most
-> hn> interesting places on the planet? NOT ME...I explored every chance
I
-> hn> got! and met some wonderful
-> hn> people along the way!
->
-> We did some travel, not as much as we would have liked to. Steve's unit
-> in Frankfurt gave him a lot of 3 & 4 day passes and then wouldn't let
-> him take them (work related isssues) so we stayed at home most week
-> ends. Did get down to Rothenburg & environs one week when he was on
-> leave--very enjoyable day there--and a few other small trips (Koln &
-> Mettmann to see family, Tannus Mountains for Hessian Park, etc) besides
-> several trips to Switzerland. Berlin kept us busy, especially Steve.
-> He was in the state for almost a year total tho so we didn't travel as
-> much as we would have liked there either.
->
We didn't get a lot of opportunities to make trips as a family either...My
dad was most of the time TDY somewhere or off on a flight to or from
somewhere. In the four years we were there I think we made two trips. I did
almost all of my explorations on my own.

-> -> hn> Now that we are back from the spring trip I've started to build
up the
-> ->  hn> freezer larder as well.
->
-> -> Mine is getting to the full point. But, we've got rice and several
-> -> other grains stowed in there too, as well as meal stuff.
->
-> hn> Ours is way too small for that!
->
-> You'ld be surprised at how much you can fit into it. (G) We replenished
-> the grains Friday; I've got one more mega cook planned (well, maybe a
-> batch of marinara sauce also) and then the rest of the freezer space
-> will go for blueberries and peaches.
->
Ours is very small so usually it's filled with things waiting to be thawed
and eaten or thawed and cooked (grin). Right now it's got chicken parts,
two frozen meat loaves, frozen cherries, some frozen stock, some blue ice
freezer packs (I put them in Anne's lunch box), and some frozen veggies.
that's about all the room there is (OH and my coffee beans!).

-> -> hn> The Vibe has very flexible seating as well as a regular 110V
plug in
-> ->  hn> for laptops
->
-> -> Makes it nice but keep your eyes on the ruad. A guy was killed
recently
-> -> when a trooper glanced at his laptop.
->
-> hn> It's for CHARGING them you ninny! (grin) not USING THEM! (although
-> hn> Anne could use hers while I drove I suppose).BTW what was on the
guys
-> hn> laptop that made the trooper kill him when he glanced at it? (Grin)
->
-> No, the trooper glanced at the laptop in the patrol car and clipped
-> another vehicle, flipping it and killing one occupant, injuring the
-> other.

I know, but it was just too much to resist teasing you a bit ! (grin)

 BTW, if you watched CNN or Fox last week, you probably saw a
-> story about a stand off with troopers in Margaretville, NY. That's my
-> home town. A trooper was killed, looks like when he was wounded by the
-> bad guy, the impact made him stagger into the path of friendly fire. It
-> started on Tuesday when a trooper pulled the guy over on the civilian
-> side of the centralschool playground for no front license plate and he
-> pulled a gun on the trooper. Trooper didn't fire back because the impact
-> (into his body armor) threw him for a loop and school was getting out
-> with buses and kids on foot everywhere. It ended Wed. night when tear
-> gas was fired into the house where the guy was holed up, setting it on
-> fire and killing him. Small town of about 800 people; my parents live
-> about half a mile from the school and at most, 5-6 miles from where it
-> all ended.
->
If I have the TV on during the day it's usually on a sports channel if
there's baseball on, or cooking channel, or discovery or PBS. So (happily)
I didn't see all news.

chat with you soon
