Hi Hap,

-> hn> (along with Scuppers the schnauzer) go to Leavenworth and enjoy a
-> hn> friday night out and then Saturday I'll drop Anne off at the
-> hn> seminar"retreat" and Scuppers and I will enjoy the town on our own
-> hn> (grin) and pick Anne up on Sunday Afternoon and come back
-> hn> home...Jonesy will be fine with extra food and water in her cage
 HN> and
-> hn> she'll only sulk for a day when we return (grin).

-> Sounds like fun for all except Jonesy. Find any interesting little
-> eateries you want to go back to?

OK, it's this coming week end. Marc Lewis had big problems with his
board so our Fido got messed up for a bit & I wasn't clear on the
timeframe.

HN> Jonesy will be angry for a day or two but it's not practical to bring
HN> her along...and we leave the radio on for her to listen to and she has
HN> a cage full of toys to play with. She won't be happy but she'll be ok.
HN> You should do a google on Leavenworth. Back in the '60's the town was

HN> dying, so they got together and tried to figure out what they could do
HN> to keep the town "alive"...they came up with the Bavarian Mountain
HN> village theme, rebuilt most of the town's storefronts and geared
HN> themselves to a tourist based economy (the area has lots of

Good German eateries? Rachel and David took us to a "Hofbrauhaus" in
Las Vegas last year; it was mediocre at best but they wanted us to know
they had German food availalbe I guess. Steve had taken me to The
Chef's Table in Honolulu (Hawaii Kai) for my birthday; it's actually
Austrian but the food was "much" better than the place in Vegas.
Unfortunately, there aren't any German eateries around Savannah so we'll
have to look elsewhere.

HN> recreational opportunities both summer and winter) and it has been a
HN> popular place to visit since then! When Amanda was younger we'd
HN> usually go twice a year, once in the winter to cross
HN> country ski and once in the summer to enjoy the mountains.

Sounds like fun. I don't know how much cross country skiing I could
take now tho. The foot is fixed; it's better than it was but still will
never be like it was before I broke it.

-> hn> Did their life go on "hold" while they were in some of the most
-> hn> interesting places on the planet? NOT ME...I explored every chance
 HN> I
-> hn> got! and met some wonderful
-> hn> people along the way!

-> We did some travel, not as much as we would have liked to. Steve's unit
-> in Frankfurt gave him a lot of 3 & 4 day passes and then wouldn't let
-> him take them (work related isssues) so we stayed at home most week
-> several trips to Switzerland. Berlin kept us busy, especially Steve.
-> He was in the state for almost a year total tho so we didn't travel as
-> much as we would have liked there either.

HN> We didn't get a lot of opportunities to make trips as a family
HN> either...My dad was most of the time TDY somewhere or off on a flight
 HN> to or from
HN> somewhere. In the four years we were there I think we made two trips.
HN> I did almost all of my explorations on my own.

And now enjoying the memories again.

-> -> Mine is getting to the full point. But, we've got rice and several
-> -> other grains stowed in there too, as well as meal stuff.

-> hn> Ours is way too small for that!
 HN> ->
-> You'ld be surprised at how much you can fit into it. (G) We replenished
-> the grains Friday; I've got one more mega cook planned (well, maybe a
-> batch of marinara sauce also) and then the rest of the freezer space
-> will go for blueberries and peaches.

HN> Ours is very small so usually it's filled with things waiting to be
HN> thawed and eaten or thawed and cooked (grin). Right now it's got
HN> chicken parts, two frozen meat loaves, frozen cherries, some frozen
HN> stock, some blue ice freezer packs (I put them in Anne's lunch box),
HN> and some frozen veggies. that's about all the room there is (OH and my
 HN> coffee beans!).

Sounds like yours is smaller than ours. I've got a fair amount of stuff
in it--enough to feed us lunch and supper for a couple of weeks.

-> hn> laptop that made the trooper kill him when he glanced at it? (Grin)

-> No, the trooper glanced at the laptop in the patrol car and clipped
-> another vehicle, flipping it and killing one occupant, injuring the
-> other.

HN> I know, but it was just too much to resist teasing you a bit ! (grin)

Looking back, I see it was worded slightly ambiguous. Happened as the
trooper was getting ready to join a caravan of troopers into Savannah
for a "Rolling Thunder" crackdown. Paper said there were something like
80 cop cars and more motorcycles, all came in with their sirens
blasting. I'm glad they came in far enough away I didn't hear them.

HN> BTW, if you watched CNN or Fox last week, you probably saw a
-> story about a stand off with troopers in Margaretville, NY. That's my
-> home town. A trooper was killed, looks like when he was wounded by the
-> bad guy, the impact made him stagger into the path of friendly fire. It
-> started on Tuesday when a trooper pulled the guy over on the civilian
-> side of the central school playground for no front license plate and
he
