Ah, gotcha!  I didn't think of that.  I had Foxtel by satellite for a
while for my grandson's benefit, but immediately after the end of the
sign-up period, cancelled it.  The dish was left on my roof "in case
you wish to return to Foxtel".

I leave my phone on almost all the time, except in hospitals, theatres
and aeroplanes, although now the rules have been eased to allow phones
to be used once the plane has actually landed.  This enables passengers
to arrange transport from the airport.

Here, it costs nothing to receive text messages, but there is a charge
to receive voicemail, so I have cut off the latter.  I mainly use
texting to send msgs, as it is much cheaper than voice.

Just a short text msg, like, "Holdup bank cnr taft n carlos" is enough
to get the cops moving quickly, and can be sent by a customer
unobtrusively while lying flat on the floor.
