Which is perhaps why he keeps recipes such as

      Title: Creamy Custard

      Yield: 4 Servings

      3 tb Custard powder
           ;to 4 tbspn
    1/4 c  Sugar- white
           ;or brown
      1    Eggs
      2 c  Milk
    1/2 ts Essence- vanilla
      1 tb Butter

  Measure the custard powder carefully, since too much makes a stodgy
  custard. Mix with the sugar thoroughly in a medium-sized pot. Break
  in the egg and mix well. Add the milk and vanilla.

  Cook over a moderate heat, stirring all the time. Add the butter as
  soon as the milk is warm enough to melt it. As soon as the custard
  thickens, take it off the heat. Serve warm or ar room temperature.

Cruel one! Perhaps I should start drinking >28 standard drinks
per week.

I've heard that. One has to balance the positive and negative
effects of ingesting various things. For me, teetotallism would
probably have a similar effect to >28 standard drinks, i.e.,
lethargy and a wish to quit this mortal coil. I believe that a
beef prohibition would have a similar effect.
