==================
Carol hadn't had her chowder fix, and nothing else seemed to
suit, so we waited until we got to the airport and had our
goodbye dinner at Legal Seafoods. This is an odd choice, as
it's kind of expensive, crowded, and noisy, and one can get
better food elsewhere, but we often choose it, as it's the
best place right in the terminal, so after gauging the wait
at security we can figure out what and how much to eat.

We were seated immediately. The place was crowded but not
packed; there were at least a couple empty twos and a four when
we arrived; by the time we left, there was a line at the door.

A genial waitress who asked about food allergies (good) but
was not quick to refill water and once forgot my bar order.

The chowder was the usual thing, which is to say pretty
good, but I'd not waste pills on it,

I had a plate of onion rings (called "strings" here, but
mostly rings; this is off the side order list at $3.50, a
bargain for this place) - they were excellent, especially
with a Sam.

Carol loves bluefish, and she got it broiled plain; I think
that she should have had it in garlic butter (my favorite) or
with mustard sauce (I'd thought this was her favorite). It was
a big chunk, broiled under a slightly too low flame and so a
little wet and a little too plain. Her choice of sides was
a bit peculiar, but I'm used to that: seaweed salad, the usual
thing, from a Japanese factory, and a superb Jalapeno-Cheddar
polenta that was almost soufflelike, with excellent pepper and
cheese flavor.

The so-called Logan Experience is billed as an appetizer
(so it doesn't come with sides), but the waitress allowed
that it was enough for a main course. It comes on a big
square plate with four compartments: Maryland crab cakes,
crab Rangoons, seared tuna sashimi, and orange calamari.
The food is good, but each dish is flawed in its own way.

The crab cakes (actually crab balls) were tiny, less than an
ounce each. They were made with decent blue crab meat (the menu
says in one entry that it's Maryland crab and in another that
it's Maryland-style crab) and just a little too much filler
(stuffing bread). Points off for a big puddle of mustard sauce.

Crab Rangoons were two big triangles filled with mostly cream
cheese but a detectable amount of the same crabmeat as above.
Quite good for what they were, but points off for a big puddle
of very sweet ginger sauce.

Good fresh ahi in the seared tuna sashimi, four smallish
slices. Here the sauce was reddish and unidentifiable; the
miscalculation in the rub, which was overapplied - it tasted
like Seafood Magic with extra thyme thrown in. The presentation
was a little misleading, too - the slices were draped over a
blob of seaweed salad (the same) that was invisible from the
angle presented to the diner.

The orange calamari were pretty good, fried well with not
too much grease. Tentacles as well as tubes. Here the problem
was a totally unnecessary tablespoon of cheap orange marmalade
drizzled over the serving - from bottom to top, good fried
squid, obtrusive marmalade, wasabi mayonnaise (that really went
okay and would have been much nicer without the sweet stuff).

The damage for two: about $65, counting tax, tip, and two beers,
too much for an airport meal or for me to afford, but about the
same as it would cost at a similar restaurant, say, another
Legal's, in the city.
