Amanda went out yesterday to a research site she has down in marin County 
( Inverness) on Tomales Bay...she said she gathered 115 or so "Big Fatty 
ones" in a very short time...so it looks like the population is building quite 
rapidly!

Yup...but they ARE hard to traverse!

She says she's seen a chemical analysis of it but can't remember where. She 
said if you put litmus paper on the philine itself you'd get a ph reading of 
close to 1 which is pretty darn acidic but she says it "buffers" out in the
salt 
water very quickly...however she did admit that her hands were itchy and 
burning after catching her 100+ in one morning.
