Hi everyone,

I am not about to try to address the whole weekend's doings as that has
alredy been done by Michael and others.  Instead, I want to make a few
observations that haven't been commented on by others.

Dimitri's:

I had the lamb chops.  I requested them to be cooked to a medium
doneness, and they were perfectly cooked.  They were of a very good
flavor and tenderness, and certainly deserving of a mild breach of
ettiquite in picking up the bones and trying to get every last little
scrap of goodness off of them.

The side dishes were roasted potatoes and pea pods.  The potatoes were
well cooked and a nice accompaniment to the lamb chops.  The peas were
at that crisp-tender stage.

The meal was quite satisfying and well worth the price.

Blob's Park:

This was quite disappointing.  The mushroom gravy on the Jaegerschnitzel
was the best part of the meal followed by the pickled beets.  The meat
was not bad, but it wasn't anywhere near the quality of a good schnitzel
like I had in Germany.  The German potato salad was seriously lacking in
flavor, which seemed to be the unanimous opinion on our end of the
table.  Michael already commented on the ambviance.  I have determined
to keep a set of earplugs in the car in case I am at such a place again
in the future. :)

Saturday:

Good friends, good food...what more can one add?  I did try a sample of
both the marinated and rubbed pork, albeit liberally coated with Dave's
homemade sauces.  I'm still waiting for the recipe for the chipotle BBQ
sauce. :)

I enjoyed the chicken.  It was really good, and the chipotle BBQ sauce
went well with it too.

Ruth and I both thought that the crab cakes were the best we have ever
had.  We just wish we could have tried the ones sauteed in butter.

We did get home in one very long day's travel.  It was good though as it
gave us an extra day at home to rest up before Ruth's surgery.

On the geek front, our Garmin Nuvi 350 performed quite well, even if we
didn't always recognize where it wanted us to turn in time, causing us
to do a bit of unintended "exploring".  I'm still glad we got it for
this trip although Ruth says that I owe her "big time" for it.
